>have some gift cards to a nice local restaurant I never used
>invite my older sibling and her husband for dinner to use the cards
>parents coincidentally want to eat out on the same night, we agree to let them come with us
>leave their house for an hour, by the time I get back my alcoholic father is already wasted
>he shows up drunk at the restaurant and spends the entire night complaining about their food
>sister and her husband have no alcohol whatsoever, dad winds up ordering a few beers and gets so blasted my mother has to drive him home

It was fucking awful and to make it worse I found out my sister's husband would really like to beat the shit out of him if he ever gets the opportunity. I had already told myself to never eat out with our parents again so this whole thing would have never happened if I just stuck to my own word.
