NY pizza is real pizza. When folks think about pizza, they still imagine NY pizza. Everyone else tries to copy or improve on it, but all have failed. Even when most Europeans think of pizza, they think of NY pizza. When your Kebab place makes Kebab pizza, they always aim for a NY style pizza as a base. Chicago is the one that adds the qualifier "deep dish", implying the default is NY style. NY style isn't called "thin dish". No style has ever become as ubiquitous as NY's and likely none ever will. The recipie was optimized and perfected the moment it landed on the shores of NY, and none will surpass it.
