yellow onions are nice and large for most of the year
in the summer when the vidalias come out, yellow onions start getting paler with softer skin and smaller size
then it becomes impossible to find large ones until about christmastime

i assume its a seasonal thing and where they are coming from at different times of the year but ive never really researched it beyond my observation
