This is absolutely not true.
Some of my least favourite beers are bland pales/IPAs with random fucking aroma added to make it seem epic and less boring. Tiny Rebel is a serious offender on this front.
Mixed fermentation on the other hand can produce some wildly complex and satisfying dry fruity bangers, especially when brewed in the tradition of Lambics and Flemish Reds. Breweries like Burning Sky, Yonder, Wild Beer, Little Earth Project and Vault City have that shit down to a tee.
It's fine for both approaches to coexist but one is a cheap cop-out and the other is a genuinely exciting frontier in craft beer.
