A lot of people don't seem to realise this, but the US is the only market in the world where the discount chicken sandwich is called the McChicken. Originally, the full-sized chicken sandwich with the sesame bun was called the McChicken everywhere including the US before it was removed from their menus for being unpopular.
When the discount chicken sandwich was introduced in the US, they gave it the name of the old McChicken. In other markets, it's called the Mayo Chicken, Chicken Crisp, Junior Chicken, Chickenburger, etc.
