Yup. This was the whole reason Claire (and I think Brad, too) left and renegotiated their contracts once their shows got popular. They went from salaried employees to freelance contractors (I'm pretty sure Rick is one too). Both had been at BA for a while and weren't making great money before that. Others, like Chris and Delany, have other managerial roles/have just been at BA for a while and are popular, so of course they have better contacts. Time at BA, climbing the promotion ladder, and popularity affects pay. Andy only just got a good contract after several years of work.

Sohla basically took an entry-level editor role that was salaried, which has video appearances as part of the job, and got mad that people she saw as less experienced than herself were making more/had better jobs. She hasn't even been at BA a year. It's kind of sad - she's definitely a better chef than most of them, was becoming pretty popular, and had her own show in the works. If she'd just been patient, like all of them were, she would have been making good money pretty soon. She was even offered $80k and just decided to have a shitfit instead. I don't see any of her coworkers in the Test Kitchen getting along with her ever again, especially after the Sporkful thing.

This makes me laugh every single time.
