>I eat an entire Pizza every sunday, all by myself.
Is that like, some really huge pizza, or is there something else I'm missing?
Here (Italy) a pizza is something you get for yourself and it's your meal, you don't really share it, and finishing one is not only normal but expected.

I think every single country has this idea that it's prestigious for something to be "locally sourced", and generally the "local" version of something is sold as a premium price because of its supposedly higher quality.
Which makes me wonder, if EVERYONE's local stuff is better and more expensive, why is the foreign stuff in your stores almost always cheaper?

Does a country's food become magically worse as soon as it moves past the border?
If everyone's food is the best, why even sell it at a diminished price elsewhere?

>one kind of bread that's marginally popular in one specific region of Italy
>somehow became "Italian bread" in America
It's always so weird to see stuff like this.
I'm so curious as to how that one bread became representative of the entire country in the states, and when.
