Its mostly the fries. An 8 pound bag of potatoes and a quart of oil in my town costs $3.60 but they buy in bulk and wholesale so it's even cheaper for them. The burger itself is a big enough meal for a normal person but people feel like they need to have fries with it and it costs them barely anything. Same thing with the soda. They are Jewing you hard on those two items

The milkshakes are expensive but they are made with 100% actual dairy products, not like how other fast food joints use barely enough milk to have it technically be a milkshake (looking at you McDicks)

They use quality ingredients and have to keep all of those toppings fresh and on hand so there ends up being a significant amount of wastage in that department

To put it in perspective a big mac and a little cheeseburger (with no toppings) are both 540 calories. Where I live a big mac costs $4 and a little cheeseburger costs $5.60. I would gladly pay an extra $1.60 for a quality burger with all the extra toppings I want over the big mac
