Yes, no, and maybe.

depends on what it it, how long it takes, and who makes it.

I can make an apple pie as good or better than sara lee (or some other brand). but the amount of effort for what I get is not worth it. their pie is better because of convenience.

Steak? sometimes better at home, sometimes better at a restaurant.

Mexican food? almost always better at a restaurant. I've been making enchiladas, tacos, tamales, etc for over 40 years. My tacos are as good (or better) as any I can get at a restaurant. My enchiladas not as good. My burritos sometimes better, sometimes not. My tamales are damn good but such a pain in the ass to make, I found a some at costco that are good enough.

Indian food? I cannot make it better than an indian restaurant.

Thai? better at a restaurant.

Chinese and Japanese? better at a restaurant.

subs? better at a restaurant.

Salads? always better at restaurants.

I do, and have been doing it for 10 plus years. started when I bought a tender loin primal to cut in to filet mignon. there was a lot that was too small to make steaks with and since the meat was super tender I decided to make chili with it.

if you don't use crap meat in chili you don't have to cook the shit out of it. since then I have tried all sorts of expensive cuts of meat, and the chili is superior to ANYTHING anyone else can make.

Nope good bacon has just a hint of brown on it, like (OP's dick). Some bacon taste better if left to sit open in the fridge for a couple of weeks and it pics up a slight sour taste in the fat.

mmmm bacon fat the most sublime tasting fat of all fats. When smoked and salted it is heaven.

When I was a kid my parents always weighed produce, buying exactly x lbs. I never knew why, and never asked.

I never weigh produce, and by based on what I think I need or will use, but I have no problem with leftovers. I even like leftovers.

I also do not worry about wasting anything. If food goes bad, oh well.

one cannot waste food or anything. one can only use it or not use it. it all eventually gets recycled one way or another.

also at no point in my going to taco bell did I ever think "man I love going to this place because it's owned by a white dude". in fact until now I never even thought about who started it and don't care. you are losing site of what hard tack is. it's a last ditch food, or a supplement to other survival rations. it's designed to last a long time, not taste good or be very nutritious. to fill your belly in time of need.

if you want something tasty and that will last 30 years buy some freeze dried food.

also no one eats hardtack directly you soak them in water and make a porridge. real hard tack is mostly inedible in it's storage form.
