op, i'm pretty sure your dad will be happy with whatever you will cook for him.
since it's grilling season, maybe try some burgers or bbq. also J. Kenji Lopez-Alt is posting lots of grilling videos right now
otherwise, if you don't have a grill, you can make a big dinner, or maybe even a thanksgiving-scale one. meat will be good, but don't forget that there's also stuff like salads and bread and potatoes and snacks etc.
try asking your mom or siblings or other family members for help if you want, and check out internt shaquille's thanksgiving video that might be inspiring
if you don't want to make a big dinner, try out whatever dish you think you'll both like. maybe swedish meatballs or a nice steak?
