What alcohol strikes the best balance of not getting you fat, not skyrocketing your tolerance, but still being a good time? Sprits make it difficult to drink at a decent pace throughout something, light beer still seems packed with calories for what you actually get in terms of a buzz.

I'm two months sober and when I get back to it, I want to drink more responsibly. During the pandemic I was easily tanking 24 beers in a day, and before that it wouldn't be out of the realm of a normal day drinking Saturday with friends to have like 15 beers and 7 shots or something.

I'm looking to get to that point where every time I decide to drink, I'm looking more at like 6 drinks as the high end.

I have been a modern drinker for a relatively long time, almost never hand hangovers.
For some reason alcohol starts to taste awful and disgusting.
I feel like I'm drinking poison.
The "worst" part is the fact I am Slavic which means my genetics are adapted to alcohol.
I suppose it's the body's normal reaction to toxins but I wonder if it's a short term or long term thing.
Would anyone want to share their story?
