Oblomov is a renowned character in russian literature. He is a wealthy young man who is the sole descendant of a large wealthy estate. He was spoiled through childhood by all the peasants and his family, and so in adulthood he's extremely lazy and can't drive himself to accomplish anything.

Eventually, his best friend Stolz introduces him to a beautiful woman. Stolz is a man of the world who has been successful in business and the military, a typical foil for Oblomov's weak character. His idea is that the beautiful woman will inspire Oblomov to outgrow himself and become a happy participant in the world.

I won't ruin the ending, but it is very russian. Neither happy nor sad.

for me, it's springbank. Not middle-shelf but I rarely drink, so it fits a middle-shelf budget.
