I made a nice split pea chowder. Started with a whole pack of center cut smoked bacon, the kind that barely let's out any fat, then cooked it with carrots, celery, onions. I added half of this to some chicken stock and saved the other half to add at the end for freshness. Then I put about half a cup of green split peas. I don't like my split pea soup to be thick baby food, I keep it on the watery side. At the very end I added about 2-3 cups milk to give it a nice chowder style taste. One of the best soups I've ever made, very salty though so next time I'll add less of the bacon.

Anyone else love it? It's probably my favorite soup but everyone else I talk to has either never had it or hates it.
