Those look terrible, the trick to blackening a hot dog means you need to char the outside, not turn it into ash. What youre intended to do is get a jucy dog on a hot skillet, if the dog does leek sweet fatty juices to keep the outside shell somewhat moist and glistening as well as cooked then you need to apply some oil, butter, or prerendered fat. just a tea spoon or so should do it. if you really want to be a fatty butter fry the insides of the bun too.
