Dude this post is wrong on many accounts. Firstly find me a single study that recommends 200 fucking grams of protein for 200 lb man. All studies done on the matter point to a figure a quarter to half of that. After a certain requirement of protein is met for muscle repair the rest is used as an energy source. Like starch or sugar just ten times more expensive. For elite strength athletes putting on mass 0.8g/lb is the absolute highest point where protein intake would make a difference. For the rest of us 0.8g/kg is the point it stops making a difference. And do note this is the point where there's a point of consuming protein for availability. Not requirement. Any higher is simply not available to the body. And you won't risk any deficiency till you drop below 0.3g/kg.

The whole protein requirement thing is made up by protein shake companies and their shill instructors in gyms. Since there's no immediate harm to consuming excess protein the myth endures. But a good few lifestyle diseases as well as kidney damage is associated with excess protein. The hardest part of working out is consuming an extra 500-600 kcal from healthy sources. Protein shakes are a way to circumvent that.
