>Use the words that mean what you say. If you say "cocktail" and you mean "highball," then no one is being pedantic or semantic in correcting you; you're just being wrong
See, I was even fine with letting this one go to ease your burden of soysplaining your shit taste away, but you just couldn‘t resist having the last soyword, could you? See picrelated for „official“ nomenclature. Also look around ITT where people have already posted a ton of highballs/longdrinks, which is an even greater testament that nobody apart from you, the soyman desperately grasping for straws, thinks of them as not-cocktails.
>If your Old Fashioned is drowned in sweetness and your Gimlet is drowned in sourness, you've been going to shit bars with shit bartenders
Nope. They are inherently so by design. A cube of sugar in a shot of whisky is nothing more than catering to baby palates. You take a complex drink that has been carefully distilled from particular kind(s) of grain or fruit in a strictly controlled process refined over years, aged in very specific conditions and the carefully assembled by people who dedicate their life to this craft all in the name of bringing you the most amazing intricate multifaceted liquor and you try to „fix“ it by dumping sugar in it. You may come up with as many soy synonyms for this like „rounding“ or „making whole and balanced“, but that won‘t change the fact that you‘re essentially trying to „fix“ Mona Lisa with an Instagram dog ears face filter. And while that might be a perfectly sensible way to entertain children and teenagers, it‘s a decidedly strange idea for a grown up with properly developed taste and sensibility, much like your newfound soybsession with „mixology“.
