Seriously? The majority of servers I know are either students or artists that wait tables to make money as they pursue something better. And the veteran servers (those who "got nowhere in life) make great money and enjoy the work. You strike me as someone who doesn't eat in fine dining establishments. If you go around not tipping on your bullshit "principals" (read: your rationalization for being a chintzy bastard), you're probably relegated to chain eateries anyway (Chili's, Olive Garden - suits your taste). And I doubt you frequent any, as you're probably reticent to show your face again after stiffing the staff. In fact, I don't buy it. I'd wager that you're too big a pussy to not tip.

Argumentum ad populum is a bit much, don't you think? You can go on and on about how you're standing up for a better economic system by voting with your wallet, but on a very real level you're just personally screwing over the person that waited on you.
How does this help? Are you hoping that more will join you so servers will be forced to quit their jobs which will force the restaurants to pay more fairly? Then everyone will follow you, and you will be the majority, and I'll feel the need to kowtow to YOUR social pressure. Comes full circle doesn't it?

"Cough up a buck, ya cheap bastard!"
