This. When I was a child I could only handle sweet coffee with milk, but as a sophisticated mature individual I recognize that black is the best way to appreciate coffee as it was meant to be enjoyed. Bitterness is an acquired taste but once you train yourself to handle it, it's far superior to that childish stuff in op's picture. I mean come on, half and half? That covers up the taste of the coffee. It's almost as bad as putting ice in your dram.

I think marketing has a lot to do with it, sheeple see the Starbucks logo and they trip over each other trying to show off their shiny $3 beverages. It's the decline of standards, across the board. Tumblr and facebook have a lot to do with this as well. The media's control over the population is appalling. 50 years ago things weren't like this. Men were men and women were women, and people who wanted to drink coffee learned to handle the bitter (in a good way!) flavors, which are not for children.
