PIZZA TALK.

I've had a lot of pizza. We all have, right? All the typical chains (varies by location though). Local joints here and there, which vary more-so. Gas station. Carnival. Shopping mall. Airport. Both Chicago and NY types. Homemade by myself, and an ex gf's mom's, which is an experienced restaurant cook in the mountains of northern Italy, and she taught me. Had tourist trap pizza on the coast of Liguria too. Small-time bakery pizza in Turin, Italy at random little street-side window bakeries. As well as higher-tier bakeries in the city center of Turin. That last one is probably the best of all, and I wish I could remember the name of the particular one I went to 3 times, but it was years ago.

But my favorite? I'm a bit embarrassed to say it. Funny thing is it was always these little mini frozen pizzas from pic related. I don't think it was store brand and it wasn't only Carrefour that carried this consistently similar variety because I bought it at another retailer, maybe a different brand but similar product, while I was in Italy. Just a really basic pizza margherita. I added oregano and sometimes some salami on top near the end of the baking time in a little oven. Fucking soft and chewy bread with a slight crisp outer layer, sweet and tangy sauce, little brown bubbles on the cheese surface. God damn, the flavors were intense for such a simple little shit thing. Well... that's my story.

Little frozen pizzas I found in grocery stores in Italy. That's my favorite. But I'd still give "the best" title to the product sold in the bakery I revisited in the city center of Turin. Lot's of little shops there sell great focaccia but this one bakery was booming with business and it had the best pizza around. Over-priced, but I can not blame them. They are earning that price in ways.

/long ass post.
