Sup /ck/. Im currently in Vienna, and i need to buy some wine for two female friends that have birthday soon. What kind of wine would be appropriate to give someone for birthday? (They asked for wine, im not a wine person)

I think this is the place to ask...
So, i'm 24yo, and while most of my friends enjoy cheap boose and getting wasted i've never being able to enjoy alcohol, only the occasional glass of the sweeter red wine (i don't know how to call it in english), lately though, i've being noticing that more and more people are talking about this of that beverage and it got me curious, how does one starts enjoying alcohol, it's not like it's milkshake that any toddler can enjoy, is it? Is there any tips to start? Is my general taste for drinks just messed up and alcohol actually does tastes better than i can feel?
