your preconception is straight out of Hollywood (maybe the midwest) acts like that around where i live, i'm not even religious and made that abundantly clear to my coworkers and they didn't care and invited me to a cookout at the church and even told me what time the sermon would be over so i didn't have to sit through it if i didn't want to. I showed up for the cookout and it was top notch. It's way more laid back then you were lead to believe or what you experienced in whatever flavor of church you went to. Southern Baptist in Appalachia were surprisingly chill compared to all the crazy devout rumors i heard about it.

We had a girl, maybe 25, who caught sepsis from having a wisdom tooth out.
She was tubed and sedated for about a week and a half in our ICU while we treated the worst of it. Literally almost died from having a fucking tooth removed.
So I guess you'll want to follow the dentist's advice on these things. Not that I know for a fact she didn't.

Someone said something similar to this in a meeting once and it really turned me off. Something to the effect of "if you're not in AA, you're not a true alcoholic". I understand the whole "dry drunk" theory, but different things work for different people. The fact that he would demean someone else's struggle and sobriety to make himself feel better about his club really rubbed me the wrong way.
