My experience is that you can't care unless its taught.
If the Scream McScream is the one teaching, it will most likely be disregarded, because Scream McScream is inconsistent and tilted 90% of his workhours except for a few hours in the morning or when finishing a shift.

The vicious cycle is:
Poor teaching/introduction -> Long work hours -> hostile managers -> being understaffed -> high staff turnover due low wages -> even poorer teaching/introduction
