You just kinda "slip" them into the broth. Mine always float so they get kinda like pasta on the bottom and pie crust on the top side

I wish I had the time to raise my own hogs to make my own sausages, but let's face it, sometimes you just gotta buy some already made

Unless you are buying farm direct or growing your own, the bagged is fresher. Blame it on the modern food industry.
The lettuce is brought in in trucks. The stuff destined for bags is unloaded and immediately put in the process, first in first out.
the produce bound for the grocery store is unloaded and put into a rack where it sits for a day or two until it's ordered, then it's shipped off to the stores warehouse and sits for another day or two until its broken down into smaller ordersbfor the individual stores.
you could easily be talking 5 to 6 days difference in freshness

I work in a plant that packs the bagged salads. The stuff in bag is fresher, washed a whole lot better than you would at home then spun dry and sealed in pure nitrogen.
The value comes in buying the blends, unless your time is worth nothing to you. How long does it take to wash and chop a couple different types of lettuce, shred some red cabbage, peel and shred a carrot? Takes a lot longer than ripping open a bag. And that's just the basic blend

I've been known to overdo it myself and then the flavors just get all muddled. Im happy with what I ended up with this time, I'm probably going to regret not measuring and writing everything down

No recipes, I just kinda winged it. I used alot of cloves, cinnamon, and nutmeg in the catsup. The bbq I did a bourbon reduction with onions and garlic for a base then used urfa biber to add some heat.

I canned tomatoes till they were coming out of my ears. I did sauce, catsup, bbq sauce, mater soup with roasted garlic, a yellow tomato curry sauce kinda thing, and a whole bunch of sliced green tomatoes for frying up this winter.

Oh and I did a bunch of sweet red pepper strips mixed with chopped up ghost chillies in a bread and butter kind of brine.

We are having my neices over this weekend for a sleep over. My girlfriend is in charge of the entertainment, I've got to handle the food. The girls already requested lasagna and snickerdoodles so that's dinner and bedtime snack. I still need lunch and snacks while we are playing games.
anyone have any good ideas? Something creative and fun for the kids to eat?
