You can do whatever you want but you have to prove to /ck/ that it qualifies as a sandwich, so sadly I’m not the judge here I just give the options.

I would’ve legit liked to see that now. I fucking love 90% chocolate.
Maybe a chocolate cakewich?

Oh no I thought this thread was going to die off cause of April Fool’s shitposting but I guess it didn’t. Also I was finishing term papers so I was a busy boy.

The ACTUAL round theme is...

SANDWICH

Anything that can be considered a sandwich, ie ingredients between two pieces of some kind of bread is fine may it be burgers, subs, paninis, etc. However your goal should be to make a sandwich that is both presentable but unique. Best of luck challengers!

In Round 1 challenger nrrwmndd !!5q13kDmTZEt took the top score with his Koji-Rubbed Steak "Gyudon" with an average score of 16.58. Will he continue his success in the next round, or will a new challenger make it to the top?

And now we go to the THEME for ROUND 2!

For our second round the month changes to April and we continue further into Spring. During this time, many crops come into perfect season, one of which is a plant called humulus lupulus which sprouts flowers called hops. They are a key ingredient in the production of beer and have been used as a preservative for casks of ale for centuries as they traveled across long voyages for months on end. However, what will be at play today is not the idea of beer and hops themselves, but the idea of preservation and the story behind the flavors that came about. The incorporation of the astringent flavor of hops into beer sounded crazy all those centuries ago, but it worked and now hops and beer go together just as well as peanut butter and jelly. I would like to see a chef that can make the best use of such astringent flavors in a creative dish.

So with that being said, the ROUND THEME WILL BE…..

BITTER!

For this round I would like the challengers to prepare a dish that exhibits bitterness in a way that would appeal to the palate! There are no restrictions to the type of dish that will be made other then it must be a dish that contains a bitter element that is worked into the harmony of your dish.

This is an open round so anyone can submit an entry! Rounds 1-3 will all be open for new entries where your best submission will be taken into consideration for who makes it into the 4th Round! Best of luck to all of you and may the best chefs triumph in this battle of /ck/ing!

Alright, and with that round 1 of the /ck/ Challenge had concluded! Thank you very much to the 9 anons who submitted in round 1 and to those who voted. As we move to the next round, which will begin APRIL 1ST, we will move to a 2 week submission and 3 day voting schedule for rounds here on out as per the poal.me which ended up with 75% of the responses favoring that choice. While I wish there was a bit more anon votes this round hopefully this will change with round 2s theme so for those reading please come and vote even if you are not submitting a dish, especially since we are moving to 100% anon voting for rounds here on out!

So with that being said I'm pleased to announce that the top scorer for Round 1 is...

nrrwmndd !!5q13kDmTZEt with an average score of 16.58! Congrats on taking a big win in the first open round!

The runners up were quaff with an average score of 15.2 and Sakeanon with an average score of 15!

So for those who want that open round average prize, nrrwmndd is the anon to beat! See you all on April 1st and get ready for Round 2 cause it's gonna be a shakeup!

(also I will post full data later, couldn't take >>12091034 votes as they came in later srry!)

Alright so we have 5 sets of votes in so far and some interesting, mostly expected, numbers coming in! Since it's coming close to the deadline and I haven't seen a lot of anon voting I think I'll push the deadline forward a couple days to give the thread some visibility.

THE NEW VOTING DEADLINE WILL BE WEDNESDAY, MARCH 27TH AT MIDNIGHT CEST (or 6PM EST)

After this the re-cap will be done here where I will announce the round winner along with the anon's choice for the one who had the highest average anon vote! Sadly I have no moneys for a round 1 prize at the moment but to make up for it I will do a decent open rounds prize for the challenger who gets the best average score in rounds 1-3 provided that he/she submits a dish for at least 2 rounds!

WANT SOME FREE SHIT? MAKE SURE TO COOK SOMETHING TASTY FOR ROUNDS 2 AND 3!

The voting will follow modified Iron Chef rules, a 20 point scale where 5 points each will go towards Presentation (how the dish looks on the plate, i.e. the plating), Originality, Appeal (how appetizing the dish looks to you) and fulfilling the Challenge Goals.

You may use this template in order to score the competitors submissions:

Presentation: /5
Originality: /5
Appeal: /5
Challenge Goals: /5
Total: /20

And now I will present each challengers dish for your voting considerations! Best of luck challengers!

Thanks! Adding your pics to the folder now.

Also for calculating averages I'm just throwing everything into excel, so for transparency purposes would anyone want me to link those files at the end of the rounds in case corrections or alterations need to be made?
