Yep, got the last bits I wanted for a dumb, self-indulgent meme cosplay I've kinda wanted to do for a while. Dunno if I should do it Friday or Saturday though. This is my first year going, I’m pretty excited, I’ve never even been to SA in general. I usually go to out of state cons or stick to DFW. On Sunday when the con is winding down head over to the River Center Mall just to see the building and the river barges (you can even take a ride on one if that's your thing), but it's a pretty interesting building with nice scenery. The stores themselves in the mall are nothing to write home about though.

If you like old gothic-y architecture, there are plenty of nice buildings nearby! There’s also Ripley’s Believe it or Not, some really nice restaurants, ghost tours if you’re into that, and you can even take a horse and buggy around the city if you’d like.

This year I'm debating either going in my plain hoodie and Jeans, or my slightly nicer outfit I used to wear for in person D&D campaigns I ran. Was pretty good overall, had fun getting away. Not sure i really did enough 'anime' stuff this year, but there really was a dearth of interesting panels. Def agree with the people complaining about how it was 99% LGBT/TUMBLR panels. I don't even recall the all day preview showings they used to have run by horriblesubs or whatever, though that might be a result of some new shit streaming service that sponsored the con. Seemed as packed as ever though.

My panel was a success, so that's all I really care about.

To be fair, I'm assuming whoever is in charge of getting guests didn't work hard enough or they didn't want guests eho cost a certain price level since SJ is during Crunchyroll Expo, SAC Anime, Saboten, Dragoncon, and other various labor day weekend cons. Getting good guests is hard while other cons might be offering more for them too with a more attractive location (San Antonio is really nice though)

Every year it is the same. The con becomes increasingly lackluster every year. Essentially we are making one man rich while we provided content and material. San japan is like going to bill millers, but you have to bring your own food and cook it yourself but still get charged for everything.
