im planning on going as naruto and goku for both days. almost done for naruto but I'm waiting on my wig for goku. I'm also getting a lighter set for naruto for Fridays dance I hope.

hopefully both dances can go well as well as any after parties at ballys and I hope that dance circle that was there last year makes a return.

As far as shoots go, this guy is one of the best I've done stuff with. Extremely friendly, cool, and really fluid when it comes to taking pics/finding locations/pose ideas/etc. Katsu was great my dude, even though the lighting suuuuucked at night (you did your best though, this time it should be much better).

Aside from that though, I'm kinda lazy and could probably google it, but are there early badge pickups on Thursday or nah? Kinda would like to beat the lines if I can.

Also: anybody else hype for Cosplay Wrestling again this year? I heard they're bringing it back on Saturday?

Teddyloid is hype. I had the chance to see him in NYC 2 years ago and his set list is amazing. He even ended up playing a LoZ mix which was totally unexpected but it got the crowd going.

It can vary widely depending on the organizer and size of the shoot. Some red flags are if the organizer is late, or the size of the group exceeds about 50 people.
In the end, it's more for the social aspect than anything else. A good shoot is pretty comfy and it's nice to talk with people who enjoy similar fandoms. I've met a good number of my con friends at shoots.
Expect mediocre to cringe quality photos though.

Kind of hoped someone took a screencap before they deleted it. It's pretty hard to find now. The general gist is that their social media manager posted a meme that offended a lot of people, and instead of being professional about it, went into full victim-mode and began calling each person in the comments a bigot, transphobe, etc. A lot of people swore off the con as a result, but it's hard to see why without seeing what happened.

I just moved to the Somerset area and my housemate is going to Anext to perform so she's bringing me along. This will be my first one though, Colossal's been my summer conf or years but it's too big and too far now.

What's the AC location like? Is it fun, or just a fiery mess of tourists and gambling dads?

animenext is pretty alright, its a good "small con" that happens to be 4 times bigger than an actual small con. lots of cosplayers, panels and weeb shit too along with 2 nights of raves/dances as the con staff call it.

Stay with the boardwalk and revamped commerce areas and it's fine. There's also the beach too, that's nice. It is like Otakon's Baltimore area a bit, you don't want to go neighborhood exploring. There's tons of late night eats at the casinos that are half decent now. Attendees kind take over the front of the strip. There's also a paid for Jitney from the convention center to the hotels near the beach.

Seconding the over 50 people red flag. Jfc the Katsucon Fate shoot was insane, over 250 people went. I doubt this will be as bad though

It's a relaxed hangout time. Photos are never good but it's nice to chill during the shoot itself. It's nice to see what cosplays people bring because they usually save the rare ones for the group meet. Basically just expect to meet other cosplayers and enjoy talking about the fandom

There were enough people to give my pal's girlfriend a panic attack. Here's my favorite shot from the shoot. Every time you look at it you find something worth laughing about. Friend's face removed, but it really captures the essence of a typical Pokemon gathering.

You'll probably know when you see it when you see less retail stores and more grimy buildings. But this little map helps too, like everything within missipi ave and n ohio ave is generally safe, obviously id still keep my eye out but its better than other parts of the city. Also a note theres a ton of homeless beggers so have to keep an eye out for them too

I ended up being a dumbass thinking the formal replaced the friday dance so i went over, but there was no one there. I had to run to the closest jitney and ended up paying about 12 dollars.

Our room was against a roof of another part of the building, and there was a huge seagull colony roosting there. The windows were mirrored, so they had no idea we were watching. Made me feel like I was lurking on /cgl/.
