A lot of lolitas seem to be scornful towards lolitas who hold different political views. For example, lolitas who support Trump, lolitas who are against gun control, or lolitas who are apathetic to social justice. Do you think the lolita community can be more considerate to lolitas who hold these views?

To be honest, it's no different from dealing with anyone else in life who has opposing views. Only immature children can't set aside political differences to the point it impacts something like a hobby or going to the grocery or mundane shit. Sage because this is just a b8 thread anyway.

I've seen a number of posts of lolitas seething whenever they find out, "so and so lolita is a Trump supporter". It hasn't abated

Okay. This doesn't make what I said untrue though. Now that you're aware those people are immature children you can avoid them. Literally that easy senpai

Bear it like a normal person would. People have different opinions and you can't do anything about it. If they start to brag you can just tell them to stop or change the subject.

Don't be those shitty "You have to tolerate everyone! Exept if you have 'wrong opinion', then you're a dick"

Do you interact with people on a somewhat more frequent basis than once yearly? I'm sure if you did, you wouldn't have to ask this question.

I’m not OP but honestly it is. Japan-centered hobbies are FULL of anti-conservatives and reactionaries who have tunnel vision when it comes to politics. It is very hard to have deep relationships with people when you refuse to understand other people’s political feelings. I don’t have a single female friend I can talk to about political issues. They can shit talk right-leaders all together in the room and I just have to sit and be quiet and take it.

Everyone takes a disagreement as a personal attack and it’s fucking exhausting.

I wonder how they feel about Hillary now that she’s spent a year and a half crying and blaming her supporters, women, poor people, the Obama admin, the media, basically everyone but herself for her loss. Trump isn’t perfect but hell I think we dodged a bullet.

You must not have a very difficult life. I don't care if you're a liberal in Trump country or a conservative in Spokane, but there are ways to deal with this and quite frankly our lives could be shittier.

This. I don’t really care if someone leans conservative or progressive or whatever else but there are politicians in my country (not Murrica) who are specifically campaigning for people like me to have fewer rights than others, so if you voted for them I’ll take that personally. I don’t think I’ve encountered another lolita who was open about hateful views but there have been a few tag-along friends and boyfriends who did shit like praise the Orlando shooter and then whine about the awful SJWs who dared to disagree with them. If they feel unwelcome in our community then I’m okay with that.

I personally think we did but not many people agree. The election was a crapshoot in general and we shouldn't be at each other's throats for trying to decide which one was the lesser evil. Hopefully the DNC will throw someone worthwhile in next election...

Well no shit. But it makes life that much harder doesn’t it? I will likely never have a best friend I can have friendly political discussion with, which I love to do almost as much as hunt for jfash and make cosplays. I have best friends now but they’re all male and from my hometown so they can’t go be in cute photoshoots with me or trade clothes with me...

What if there was an amazing candidate who had great ideas on nearly everything BUT the one thing that involves you? Would your me me me attitude still take offense to your friend supporting them?
I’m saying you don’t have to agree with someone 100% to support them. It sucks, but yeah.

>> No.9838832

The problem here is assuming that people should get along just because they like the same style of clothing. I would barely even consider lolita a subculture because it doesn't encompass any hobbies or interests that aren't directly related to the clothing itself, at least in the current year. There are "lifestyle lolitas" but they are too uncommon to define the hobby as a whole. When it comes down to it, liking elegant clothing is a really small fraction of a person's identity, compared to personal beliefs, lifestyle choices, and others interests, even if you do wear the fashion on a daily basis.

I'm very much against getting politics involved with lolita, along with the witch hunting ("call outs") that happens when people with the maturity of middle schoolers find someone in their hobby who they disagree with. However, everything is so politicized these days that conflict over it will occur no matter where you go. It's hard to expect people who state their political beliefs in their profile descriptions before anything else about themselves to NOT behave like raging extremists. People who would automatically despise each other over politics aren't going to start liking each other just because they're both wearing frilly dresses.

>> No.9838844

>>9838824

The thing about people is that they will have different opinions about things. All of my friends and I will differ on one issue. My best friend and I have very different views on how to manage depression among other things. My lolita best friend and I probably have very different political views. My colleague who I'm close with at work has a really different view of how to treat relationships than I do. Even my boyfriend and I have very different economic and political views. But it doesn't deter me from being friends with these people, being compatible in different ways, or even from having friendly political or whatever related conversation. You deal with it on an individual basis.

Not saying that because I think you deal with it badly, because I'm sure you don't, but we all need a reminder of that, and that actually includes me as well.

LOL are you fucking idiots now ruining weeb shit with politics too? Politics are a scam to keep us poor people from lynching rich assholes alive. We are obsessed to fight each other when in fact only way you can change politics is either killing a politician (and that doesnt change much) or dumping millions and billions into politics.
