How are you guys feeling? I'm excited, I had a pretty good time last year and I hope I get the same result this year.
I'm pretty interested in whatever the Nikko Festival thing is. It could either be rather fun or a total trainwreck.
>How's your con crunch going?

>> No.9735317

>>9735032
I'm super excited too!! I don't mind the smaller amount of attendees because it keeps things chill and relaxing. They seem to be working hard to bring fun stuff to the festival though so we will be checking that out!!
>con crunch
Tears.

>> No.9736670

happy cuz it's the one non-Greg con we get all year

>> No.9737062

I'm not going because I live way too far but I went to Taiyou a couple years ago. It's a really great con, especially in comparison to all the meh-bad "small" cons I go to. I just wish it wasn't so close in time to my local con and ALA. I'm seriously rooting for the organizers though, I'll always remember Taiyou as being one of the best con experiences I've ever had

>> No.9737064

>>9737062
did you cosplay?
i like the con great overall but people are a little hard to talk to

>> No.9737075

>>9737064
Yeah! It was during my extreme Jojo phase so I mostly did that. I personally had a pretty easy time meeting people there? but that's just ymmv. I'm not too into the AZ community, obviously, so I wouldn't really know what the environment's like but the handful I met were super chill

>> No.9737123

I might actually be interested in going this year. The programming looks pretty good compared to previous years and there's no in- character panels like other cons (thank God). I haven't gone in a couple years just because every time I've gone I've been extremely bored from uninteresting guests and lack of programming.

Could they please give Mega64 a rest though? Are they even relevant anymore?

>> No.9737304

>>9737123
I dont know, I really enjoy seeing Mega64 in my home state.

>> No.9737306

Whats up everyone, I'm super busy with some last minute prep for the convention. Just like last year If anyone has any question regarding the convention please let me know. I'll answer what I can.

What's this year's drink equivalent to last year's Phoenix Down?
I pretty much just go to Taiyou now to drink and chill now

>> No.9737380

this will be my first az con in aaagesss and im excited! nice to see some good words about it, i was really unsure since its a smaller con.

How active will the festival be? Will there be booths to buy stuff and all?

>> No.9737406

Question. I kind of want to go to Taiyou, haven't in years, but everyone I know is a PCC-die hard and claims Taiyou is trash so I'm worried about spending my money. If I wanted to go one day would it be worth it?

>> No.9737432

>>9737406
Your PCC-die hard friends, are they more into western comics and cartoons or anime, japan and weeb stuff?
If they favor things like Marvel/DC or american cartoons I can see why they wouldn't like anime cons that much.

Check out the programming guide up on the website and see if anything catches your eye. At the very least go on Saturday, that's usually when cons are the most active.

>> No.9737459

>>9737406
Just as there are die hard pcc people there are also die hard taiyou people who loathe pcc. Depends on what you enjoy in a con, like other anon said if you're more weeb then maybe taiyou will be worth it for you.

>> No.9737462

>>9737432
That's the funny thing. We're all a bit on the weeb side desu. We enjoy western comics, things like Supernatural, all that, but more than anything we get into anime/manga/etc. I think they're just stuck on these old stories that went around about how bad Taiyou is and keep saying "no these were all at the last Taiyou." because... someone always brings it back up like it's new? I think I might go, especially with all the drama circling PCC this year.

The hotel decided not to bring back the Phoenix down but they have brought back the Cathrine from a couple year ago. That would probably be the closest thing this year. I'm trying to get them to put the Phoenix down back on though. All of the drinks are very good so you should be pleased by any of them.

>>9737382
The festival this year will have food for sale split in an area we labeled "food alley" where the food trucks were last year. This year there are no non food vendors in the festival area; but, it is something we have look into for next year.

Heard the bar thing was fun last year, basically the same thing this year or different?

This is disappointing. I thought I'd get more insight on whether or not I should go for once, but this thread didn't live for very long.

Want someone to make up your mind for you? Fine don't go because you'll probably just come back here and complain some more that anons didn't make the right decision for you.

had some really good chats with people at the bar, aside from that not much else. Dunno just be but this year it seemed like there was a smaller crowd

>> No.9746678

Vendor hall was smaller but quality, most of them were willing to cut me a deal when I bought stuff in pairs. I only went to guest panels and those were great, got some behind the scenes info. The cosplays at the convention were all pretty good and I think it drew in more of the older (20+) crowd, didn't see many tumblr kiddos weebing the place up. I really liked how the cafes were free with badge and you could pop in on your schedule and not on blocks. The con was really laid back. Everyone seemed to be on a sailor moon kick for the masquerade, and there were people performing the same skits from a con a couple months back. Overall I'd recommend it if you want something to chill at and meet new people

>> No.9747436

>>9746347
I don't think it was smaller from last year it seemed like everyone was more spread out this year. It seemed like people where everywhere. From what I hear they ran out of badges.

>>9745328
I like the Nikko Festival even if it was only on Saturday. That tower game was really fun, I didn't win... I really wanted that ribbon.
