You could draft your own? Just start doing rough sketches on how you think you would assemble it, and spend a lot of time finger-fucking jackets in stores to get a good idea on different methods of construction. It's actually pretty easy once you've had a bit of practise. Look at existing garments in the same shape and find out where the seams are. That's where you separate it into pieces.

Most patterns break down into simple geometric shapes tapered slightly to the lines of your body. Pleats and things are a little more difficult but if you start with something easy like a vest you can then build on those skills.

Not that guy but anyways;

The ref model is straight but your prop has some sort of cave-in at the top?

Some lines that should be straight are off like the bottom of the gun.

Proportions don't match (though that's not a disaster)

Foam doesn't easily allow for the level of detail you're going for so i'd advise using some alternate materials in addition to foam for smaller details.

And desu, i'd just use screws for screws if i were you.

One thing that might help: if you want clean subtle lines running along your foam, put a ruler along your line, make a superficial cut with a very sharp knife and warm it up with a heat gun.

This will make the foam contract and leave you with clean lines.

And while we're at it, i'd just use stencils for letters and other small paint detailing if i were you.
Cutting out vinyl stickers to mask are a great way to get a crisp pattern on props too.

>> No.9742942

>>9742939
The "desu" should be "to be honest"
One thing to remember is that general shapes are not something that you'd want to correct during detailing. Starting out right will spare you a lot of effort and produce a way better result.

Do note i'm not amazing at making props either, but i hope you'll get some use out of what i've learned myself so far.

I find sometimes it's easier to keep layering on small details than it is to carve them out if that helps! Working with something more solid like foamboard too can be more forgiving and give straighter lines (I honestly try to use that whenever possible because I still cant do decent EVA shaping/cutting to save my life).
But don't let that other anon get to you and definitely keep at it! The level of effort and detail you're putting in is really something.

I just learned how to make a wig, so I tried turning an old crappy $2 one into a new one (while splicing it with an old Hannah Montana wig I bought 11 years ago) and I’m pretty pleased with the results for a first try! Did it come out okay? I couldn’t find a tutorial online for how to make a buzz cut, so I just tried to figure it out myself doing some tricks that I though would work.

The buzzcut section is really weird-looking. It kinda looks like felted dog hair and not like human stubble. The fitting and the hairline on it have to be way more precise than you have it.
On the hair side, you can tell where the fuzzier top wig meets the clumpier, wetter-looking Hannah Montana wig really easily. It also seems like you cut the top wig yourself because the edges are very blunt and unnatural for such a curly style. For something like that the textures and cutting angles need to be more consistent.
Maybe in a year when you're in high school you can salvage the hair part into a ponytail clip or something.

The bottom part wasn’t dry yet when I took the photo to be fair. And the fit looks a bit odd because my head is a weird shape (and I’m fitting waist length hair under it). But I see what you mean about the felted looking hair. I’m still not sure how to fix the buzz part, though.

Imitating buzzcuts/undercuts with wigs is pretty difficult to do, even for practiced wig stylists. This particular wig might be difficult to salvage, but if you ever feel like trying it again, consider using short-pile faux fur in the color you want for the undercut instead of the fuzz-thing you have there. There's a few tutorials for making more realistic undercuts, but apart from having to shave part of your own hair, I think the faux fur ones tend to have the best results. Hope this helps!

Your work is lovely but are you open to a bit of concrit? Hear me out if so and please don't feel discouraged, that's not my intention.

The shawl and skirt peplum? are far too heavy and detract from the floaty feminine 1950s look I believe the artwork is based on. You'd be better off using either premade lace fabric or buying chiffon/voile (even a light weight cotton would work since it's meant to be opaque.) Then adding your own lace to it, just as you have on the satin. I can't tell if it's all one piece or not. But if it isn't, it should be 2 pieces. The bodice/dress will be fine with or without straps. But the lace shawl should be seperate with the high collar ruffle and fastened with a small button at the back.
In regards to the belt. I love the quilting work, but feel the lace around the cameo needs to be replaced as it cheapens the overall look. The lace join looks particularly messy and is best placed at the bottom of the cameo.
For the skirt, it seems like you have done a circle skirt that fits to your waist measurement? Using that method you'd need another one the same size, and then have them both gathered in at the waist. It'll create much a much nicer drape over the crinoline/petticoat.
Speaking of, at the moment it seems to give too much of a bell shape when it needs to be more A-line. If you don't want to add more fabric into the skirt. Then simply reducing the size of the undergarments & altering it to fit the A-line shape will help give the skirt a better drape & look! (Which I'd suggest doing either way desu.)

Feel free to ignore my advice/not respond as it is unsolicited, and you have no reason to listen to some random anon on 4chan. I'm just a huge Sakizou fan and see potential in your work with just a few tweaks!
