>opinions below, be warned
I like the design, but I would change the gingham or other a ligher color or polka dots. I would also love to see a "real" light green used for the leaves, instead of mint. I get that mint is "more lolita", but strawberries don't have that color, and I think it would look fresher.

>> No.9391993

It's honestly really ugly. There's way too much going on, the colors aren't particularly nice, and the cuts/designs are really tired. I mean, honestly, that yellow one is a fucking mess.

TL:DR- Disappointed, woe for the era of 2009 sweet gone past, I have no new releases cause they are too fancy.

I was really looking forward to the yel- colourway when it was announced, but I had only seen pics of the OP which I think looks nice (disclaimer: gingham is one of my fave prints and fabrics for lolita)... but the JSK looks fairly "eh". I thought the sax looked bad for the ribbon details until I noticed the background to the bunnies is also sax.

But at the same time I kind of wished that they were going to use a more 2009 sweet cut or something less lacy. I really don't like the OTT classic/ ultra lacy trend for wear-ability these days. I've only bought 3 new releases in the past 3 years (not including happy packs which are much simpler) because most collections seem more appropriate as occasion wear not as daily lolita. Don't think I will be buying it sadly, might get the bag and socks though. Not that I think this is over the top lacy, I just like things that I could wear on errands or to a meetup and I couldn't see myself wearing this to the shop.

Sorry for rambling. I have no idea why I thought it was appropriate to type all this bs out.

Usually about ten-twenty percent off, or free shipping seems decent enough to ask for. You will also have better luck taking to sellers that have had their dresses up for awhile with no buyers, instead of pouncing on a new listing. And of course, be gracious if they say no for whatever reason.

I wouldn't bother trying to haggle with sellers that have massively overpriced dresses, either the dress really is worth that much or the seller is delusional, not worth arguing over it.

I don't understand why Lolibrary update is taking that long. If they're changing servers, they should have let the previous website still available for everyone while migrating the data and testing the new one. It's taking days for no reasons IMO.

>> No.9393786

Because it overrun the weekend and I've been busy at work.

The first big time-sink was that the image migration job I did completely killed the database server I made (via databaselabs). That took nearly a full day to fix, and in the end I ended up hosting our own database.

The second was that roughly 300k jobs that had been set off overnight on saturday all errored (silently) and I didn't discover this until about 1pm Sunday.

Also, it was far easier just to disable the old site (and I actually took the site offline about 8 times just trying to rsync the images over, and I killed it twice doing a mysql backup).

Currently, the blocker is that the search index is taking 1-2 seconds for a search instead of 10ms, which is going to take down the site if I remove maintenance mode. So I'm working on that in my free time.

>implying I'm using mysql

The old server was mysql (on AWS w/RDS), new one is postgres. There's a DB import step that migrates them over.

I originally used databaselabs because it was quicker than setting up postgres BDR for high-availability. Also, the initial generated dump for the site was postgres 9.6 at that point anyway, and I honestly could not be fucked to deal with that.

AZ comm doesn't really want her any way. All she does is remind us of the drama from the past that is irrelevant now. She posts on the FB page about stuff and contributes to conversation. But she hasn't been to a meet in a long time. If she wants to think she dresses better then okay. But she really doesn't. Michelle was probably the only girl in our comm that had some e-fame that dressed well. Batty simply attracts the Melanie Martinez crowd. Searching is elasticsearch. I'm doing a post on infra at some point (if I ever make a tech blog), so calm your panties.

Also, you really do sound like you have no idea what you are talking about.

The website is not gonna crash because it's "not optimised enough" (it runs fairly well in production excluding the elasticsearch server, and I'm solving that with tweaks to make match_phrase_prefix queries faster) unless some skiddie gets sad that nobody likes them. I agree on writing a letter, but they have no way to enforce it. You'd be correct if WW was a US company, but it's really nearly impossible to sue over things like that across borders.

But hey these Newcon guys clearly don't know crap, so they may actually pay up when sent an official letter.

>>9394183
If they had enough money to not notice 2k they certainly have enough money to pay them back.

They should take out a loan to pay WW if they have to, it's not hard to get a 2k loan. Heck they could do 2k$ of credit card debt. You don't just take someone's money like that -.-

Of course, they won't do any of this, because they don't care

oh, wouldn't want to deal with that then desu. i'm sure they lurk though so it's a good idea to make suggestions to get them out of the stone age. there's also the possibility of just making it and seeing if people jump ship to the new shiny platform because they can't do anything about it really. the website would be really simple to make

Catherine's Cottage started out making proper lolita for adult women, they only had a teeny tiny section of dresses that came in kid's sizes when I first found their rakuten shop. I guess they ditched that and went full kiddy princess because their adult-sized lolita dresses weren't selling as well.

The dress auction you found was probably one of their older dresses from back when they still had a section for women's clothing.

Probably because Eurofags (like me) have to pay a shitload of customs fees?

I personally don't add what I paid in customs fees to my prices cause it won't sell as the item will be considered overpriced.
I just take a loss cause it's not my buyers fault that I got charged by customs anyway.
Rather sell at a loss than not sell at all to be honest!
Maybe the seller wants back what they paid for it, but that is often unrealistic as trends change and some popular dresses lose their popularity over time.

>> No.9396347

I thought this price (at least around the $500) was average for Sugar Hearts? It's not like it's Holy Lantern where its currently flooding the market? This is the only one I see on LM right now, and if it was someone's dream dress they'd probably pay the price. If you're that butthurt about their asking price why not just make them an offer?
It'd be one thing if they're asking like $800+ but Sugar Hearts is an older dress and somewhat semi-popular among Sweet lolitas. At least, I've seen it in quite a few sweet lolita wishlists.

>>9396347
In the Japanese market Sugar Hearts tends to go around 200-300, maybe a little higher for the purple. Lolita prices are going down because people are just buying from Japan rather than deal with the inflated western market prices.

Also, Eurofags need to realize no one's going to overpay to return them their custom fees. They also need to realize charging Paypal fees are against Paypal's TOS.

Wasn't white a popular colorway too, though? So around $350 plus shipping from Japan (especially if EMS) plus shopping service fees, it'd still add up. I do agree Eurofags overcharge to return custom fees though, but even buying it around the $350 mark can get it into a range closer to $400 easily, and that's just buying from Japan. Add in fast/tracked shipping from Europe and it goes close to the $500 price, Euro shipping alone can be expensive as hell and sometimes over $30 even.
Definitely agreed on PP fees though, since they are against the TOS.
