Funny, I actually really dislike this wig because of how smooth and clean they are. It makes it look like plastic and not real hair. Even with wacky anime styles, I like when wigs have a bit more of a "how this would look in the real world" vibe. It's hard to find Sailor Moon wigs that do that though.

The tailoring on that dress is absolutely gorgeous. What a fantastic cut. I'm guessing she added a panel to the side seam that fans out into the skirt? Man that looks awesome. You gotta respect a cosplayer that tailors the costume to look flattering on them.

If anyone is working on a serenity cosplay, I came across this fabric while working on a different costume. It breathes beautifully so it should have a good amount of movement. I figure if you add in some broomstick pleats you could really pull that manga look.

I bought it off someone else for cheap, but the seller got it off eBay. I've seen them on taobao, too.
As a heads up, I had to tailor the waist and gloves of mine a lot, and attach my own panty so the top wouldn't ride up (above is the only worn pic i have with the changes). The tiara I broke the edges off so I could just spirit gum the front, because otherwise it's bulky and hurts to hell.

Another frequent casualty of SM cosplay is Serenity.

Over the last two decades I've seen such atrocious bodices. So when I see someone get it right I feel like heaping all the praise on them for lining up the pearls and properly stiffening up the circles, using nicer fabric for the skirt,and doing something to make those sleeves look good in real life.

Oh yeah you can get really fancy if you want to. An odd phenomenon I've noticed about cosplayers in the couple decades I have been around, they don't make more of their own clothing like you'd think they would.

Like you can make a pretty damn boss wardrobe with some fancy fabric and 4 or 5 patterns. But nope, they just wear tshirts and jeans and let that knowledge of how to make a garment go only towards cosplay.

The wigs are styled in an out-of-the-box kind of way? By those standards, *all* wigs are styled.

Now, don't get me wrong. I don't want you to think I'm picking on them in particular- because they are, indeed, the absolute best of what you posted so far with the exception of the Selenity Redesign.

The saddest part is, the venue looks beautiful and whoever did the lighting did a great job. It's just an absolute shame about... Everything. Like, just downright tragic. From the pictures it looks like people didn't even try. This was such a cool idea and such a cool concept and yet it looks like people didn't even bother.

And age has nothing to do with it. Bad taste knows no age. There are prom dresses that would have been a better idea than some of these. What a shame.

Sage for OT - I've made a few skirts and sundresses, but I usually pick fanvomit prints (ex Star Trek, Avengers) to make custom clothing that wouldn't be sold/made anywhere else - they end up as fun Day 4 outfits for long weekend conventions. Otherwise, it's cheaper by far (when considering materials + manufacture time) to buy off the rack.

I'm working on Pluto too and envy your height anon! I'm not much of a prop person so the Garnet Rod is a bit daunting and has been my main setback. Quantum Destiny is my favourite Pluto but she's only 5'5" I think. I appreciate sewing like that but that wasn't what I was thinking about. I was talking about indistinguishable from regular clothing type of clothes.

And yeah a lot of the time it's cheaper to buy off rack but maybe it's because I've been an adult for so long or that I'm tall with long arms that I see the unbelievable value in making something look excellent and fit you exactly as it should in a color that compliments you instead of always having to make a concession somewhere.

You don't have to make complicated suit jackets and formal wear. You should try something you've thought about having but can't seem to find...
You can really surprise yourself on the number of quick to make and ridiculously nice looking patterns out there.

I'm having a little trouble with interfacing my front bow.
I've read a bunch of tutorials but I'm still confused about how much interfacing to put in. At the moment the bow curves when I pull the middle together. So when it's on it hugs my chest and looks weird.

Some of the coolest people I've met at a con. When I went to the rave for the first time in years with another female friend the Mars went with us and said "anyone tries anything, tell me and I'll kick their ass." And the entire time would dance or stop to make sure we were okay.

From what I could tell, nothing really lovely. There were some pretty store bought cocktail dresses and that one good military coat Uranus.
Everyone else clearly didn't know how to style themselves for a fancy party. Bad wigs didn't help too much.

Just remember to take it one day at a time. Start with portion control and listening to your body. Learn to know when you're full versus when you're eating just because something tastes good. Don't trust miracle diets. You'd be amazed how far portion control go!

Dieting alone, however, is only half the battle- remember, skinny fat is a thing. Find something that you like and won't see as a chore to keep in shape. Cardio but don't like running? Join a hot yoga or zumba or aerobics dance. Don't like cardio? Weight training. Don't like weight training? Swimming. Don't like swimming? Rollerblading.

Despite eating a lot, Usagi is still portrayed as having long, slender limbs. Adult ballet classes have become a lot easier to find. If that doesn't sound fun, try Pilates. If that doesn't sound fun, there's another form of Pilates used by ballerinas to keep their body on condition outside the studio- gyrotonics. It's harder to find but it allows you to excersise, get better posture and tone your muscles. Also it's great for making your back feel awesome.

Indoor rock climbing, archery, and paddle boarding are also some fun activities that can help you get in shape!

Again, the goal here is to find something you like doing, something you look forward to doing. Not something you see as a chore or homework.

I've heard about aerial aerobics and bellydancing for keeping in shape, but I'm sorry to say, most of the bellydancers and ribbon dancers I've seen tend to be on the heavier side so I'm not quite sold on their effectiveness for toning.

Unfortunately I have never found adult gymnastics/tumbling classes :( Thosevseem like they'd be awesome for getting in shape and gymnastics looks so damn fun.

I wanna add to this: Do squats. Don't do back squats (The ones everyone thinks of when they say squats) But do some form of it (plie squats, lunge squats, side squats, or goblet squats). If you have a flabby ass it will perk it right the fuck up.
15 reps with whatever weight you can handle.

If you don't continuously raise the weight you won't get bulky legs, just a good ass.

I had the same sort of thought. But then I just shrug and realize most people aren't models to begin with.
Few know the full array of knowing where to buy a quality wig, how to style it flawlessly, apply the best make up for their features, and be an expert seamstress.
The showrunners had to balance getting people to come with exclusivity. Too exclusive and you lose money when no one can come. Too accepting and people show up in the crappiest of ebay cosplays.

Oh yeah I agree. I'm a fan of changing little things so it suits your face better. Like not doing the crazy rise off the forehead that those 90's bangs do and just curling the ends & making sure they aren't plastered to the forehead.
But straying too far with straight bangs, no bangs, uncut bangs, too short bangs, or spiky bangs sticks out as "Those aren't supposed to look like that."

The ChibiUsa I posted isn't an example of that. She could have curled hers a little more cause she can definitely pull it off but it's no big deal.

The satin color is too warm, it should actually be more bluish like the boots but I guess there's nothing you can do about that. Also, please get a better wig; what you're wearing looks like Mercury's hairstyle. It should be a straight bob the comes just above the shoulders, like pic related.

As for the hip roll, I think the puff shape looks ok, but the 'v' needs to be deeper so maybe try pulling it down a bit if it's separate from the bodysuit? The center points look a bit separated from each other so you could hand-stitch them together so they look more like one piece?
