This thread is for ouji and aristocrat (aka "boystyle") discussion. Boystyle refers to the masculine counterparts of lolita and aristocrat fashions. There is a lot of overlap between these styles, and different people use different terms to describe them. So, consider this a thread for those whose style is on the right half of Buttcape's Lolita Family Triangle: http://www.kawacura.com/moripress/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/0dmmLH6-350x350.jpg

Oh actually hats are in op. I'm considering making one myself. I was planning to use cardboard as a base, sew over it with a black non glossy material and then add a ribbon and accessories. I'd like to use something brand made as I don't plan to walk around with a deck of cards from a corner store. Tho Idk what???

Does anyone know a good place to find a navy blouse that would be suitable for ouji? Putumayo is the only place I can find one, but it looks see-through, and I'm not sure how good the quality is. I've tried checking taobao, but haven't had much luck there either.

I'm trying to identify a Moitie gilet I picked up on Alice Fururun. I've found similar, bt does anyone recognize what year it's from, and whether the piece has a name? It's a halter-neck gilet with a lace up back, double-breasted, and longer at the back. It's a mens' size EGA item.

this, the item number will usually be prefaced with "EGA" and you can search from there.

CoF is a nonpublic group, so i am always uncertain how to utilize coords i find there. it seems wrong to share an image onto 4chan (which has outside sites that archive EVERYTHING posted to /cgl/) when the owner uploaded it to a semi-private group. it is common to do it, and we have a CoF thread that reposts (and thus archives) every coord, but it feels different than uploading an image from a public source like tumbl or daily_lolita's public entries.

I wouldn't use cardboard, it won't do complex curves like a nice top hat brim, and if it ever gets squashed you won't be able to reshape it. These all use leather or fosshape, though traditional is heavy buckram, which is reasonably priced and steam-shapeable. I'm a hat newbie myself but the friend who taught me makes /tons/, if you want more advice.

that looks like a really solid coord base. some neckwear (jabot, necklace, or a jazzy tie) and a cool bag would complete the look. you picked items with gothic details so the ubiquitois bat or coffin bag would be easiest to find if you get stuck.

not sure if the pants are slim enough to tuck, but if not, the boots look slim enough to drape the pants over.

thrift stores mostly. "dandy" isn't jfash, F+F just uses that term because it sells.

aristocrat is gothic, which can make a cool contrast if you are wearing sweet or classic, imo. but if you want to match, what is it about ouji he does not like? there is such a wide range of styles (as wide as lolita), and many aristocrat outfits can also be classed as ouji (and usually are in Japan).

can you describe his bodytype and general tastes?

Ah ok thanks I wasnt sure because last time I asked about something like this dandy is what came up.

I was worried aristocrat would end up clashing, but I could see it working along side classic actually.

Its just too feminine, I dont know anything about ouji and neither does he really other than what pictures we find. He doesn't like the idea of dressing like a little prince and the shorts are definitely a no go.

About my bf
>probably about 5'9"
>little bit of a baby face he likes to hide under a full beard (but not like hipster full beard, one that someone could get away with keeping for a job)
>pretty skinny, would fit into plenty of things straight from japan
>likes punk music and is open to, as he calls it "dressing like a pirate"

He just wants to look good with me basically/

I'll check those out though! I was thinking for matching with my coords it may be as simple as getting blouses and pants from like F+F and then getting vests that match my colors.

I originally really disliked ouji, but it grew on me. Dressing like a 'prince' doesn't have to mean looking like a little boy. You could be elegant to match classic, without going fully aristocrat. Take the colours of ouji and the maturity of aristo and you can get a pretty nice blend.

I don't know any other ouji who have full beards but neatly trimmed it can still look nice. Don't describe it as boy-prince wearing silly hats and shorts - that's one way to do it, but there's much more variety than that.

Honestly he cools with everything up until the shorts.

He likes what you posted other than that and the ruffles on the bottom of the vests.

Like I said all we really know about ouji is the "little boy" look, but this thread has given me a lot more to look at, it looks like a good mix for him, that he thinks, is just mixing and matching ouji tops/vests with more mature pants and coats

>> No.8997073

Does he dislike shorts in general? I hadn't worn them for over 10 years before ouji, can't say I blame him.

that is usually specific to sweet ouji, since sweet usually translates to looking more childlike (and not looking like an actual child, children don't dress like this!). you can wear mature sweet ouji as well--pic related.

classic, gothic, punk, and military ouji are common styles that tend to veer away from the childlike look (well, punk often looks juvenile in a mallgoth sort of way).

>want brand pants made with good quality materials that do not look like formalwear
>brands continue releasing pants in formal or costumey styles

i envy the range of options lolitas have for daily wear.

just showed this guy I've been seeing what ouji looks like and he says it looks like yaoi or borderline shotacon. Kind of upset at him right now, especially since I dabble in ouji sometimes and I find the look to be attractive on some men

Femme ouji here and I have problem with shoes. I think most men shoes look ugly and I can't really wear high heeled ones since my back aches easily. I have only one pair of oujiable shoes, similar ones in the pic. What kind of flat shoes would be passable and not too masculine?

flat foot boots, flats, etc
Its not really hard just dont buy cheap shoes, tennis shoes, or orthopedic shoes.

How many people here wear ouji and lolita?
Do you find your color/theme preferences vary depending on which style you're wearing?
Do you ever behave or feel differently in ouji vs. lolita?

>> No.9085549

>>9085487
I wear both and my wardrobe is about 50/50 and I share most blouses inbetween. Most of my ouji/aristo is all black but I am trying to add more color, practically red, ivory and browns like my classic, print-less lolita wardrobe has.

I don't think I behave differently, I will say ouji is a lot more easier to move in though.

>> No.9085876

No changes in preference for colors, materials, themes as far as I can tell, so like >>9085549
a lot of items I have work for both styles and I mostly find ouji easier to use public restrooms in and the outfits typically have fewer layers.

Other that being more comfortable, I act the same, but other people treat me slightly differently. The group pulls you into more photos and pretend flirts with you because it's kind of a novelty when you are the only one wearing ouji, and strangers always address you first until the organizer makes herself known.

>I like to wear my printed tights with solid pants and solid tights with printed dresses, so it's a great way for me to break up full sets that I really like but are overwhelming when worn together.

I don't wear lolita a lot but I definitely noticed the difference. I've never experienced random people singling me out of the group to talk to though, unless I happened to be closest/not obviously busy. Curious why. Unless you're obviously a guy.

Very femme presenting female and people always use female pronouns for me, but you may be on to something. I go from "miss" to "ma'am" in ouji, so perhaps the footwear or comfy pants is subtly changing our overall posture to look more imposing or subconsciously making us feel more confident, which is something you'd usually expect from a male or person in charge? I'm also pretty quiet so probably not busy looking. In a dress, I guess this looks standoffish but in pants it just looks "in charge".

>>9090546
Mine just looks like a regular lolita room, but pretty lolita room pic just to keep the thread going.
