Have any of you seagulls experienced something like this? Is it common? I'm only asking because it was my very first branching out to make more girl friends in Cosplay, and I feel almost robbed.

This may or not be normal. It depends where you live. I live in the pacific northwest and that describes maybe 1 in 25 cosplayers. But in southern california it is probably 1 in 10. Try making friends at local cons and meets and just do mutual things at first, like getting lunch or going material shopping together. Don't pay for anything or lend or give them things until you know them well and they can be trusted.

I had this happen to me, but I was the one blamed on for using her to become cosfamous.

I met a girl at a con and she was pretty cool. She came from a rough home (aparrently) and she was very shy when it came to cosplay. I helped her enourage herself more to do it and even help her set up her own page and get her name out. She soon became really successful and popular. She then encouraged me to make a copslay page since I never had one in the first place.

As time went on, and (according to her) I got just as popular as her, she kept accusing me of using her to become famous and copying her. I really was just doing my own thing and I was confused why she would accuse me something like that at the time.

Soon, i got invited to be a cosplay guest at a small first year con and she got pissy because they invited me and not her. She then kept complaining about it om her facebook and even said she would quit cosplay. I cut off all ties with her after that and avoid her online and at cons as much as I can.

All because I wanted to be nice and have a good cosplay friend. I don't know why i was such a doormat in the first place and let her keep going for so long
