Are payment plans really that common? Maybe I'm just odd, but I absolutely detest the thought of buying something I cannot immediately pay for.

If I cannot afford it reasonably, I wait and hold it off until I can. The second I find out I won an auction or anything, I pay for it immediately.

I guess I'm the weird one.

I always do payment plans or holds even though I can afford it most of the times.
The reason behind this: my customs office wants to see the paypal invoice, they do not care what I tell them or what the sellers marks down. If I can show them a $200 invoice instead of a $400 I save a lot on custom fees.
If I use a shopping service I usually show them the shipping invoice. They never question it, I saved the money for a whole brand dress over the course of 2 years.

I would do it for example at the end of the month, when I already spent my budget for Lolita, but see an item for sell that is on my immediate wishlist and I know I can afford it the next week when my salary comes. I will just ask for a payment plan because I know i can affor dit in a week but I'd like to make sure no one else buys it.

Sometimes I explain my situation, but sometimes it's a little bothersome to explain and sometimes it's convenient to pay part of the money a week later. It's not like I would ever ask for a payment plan that's longer than 2 weeks.

I just really, really, really detest the idea of payment plans for myself. It might be because I'm rather forgetful, but I always prefer to pay for things straight up rather than over time.

WTB posts where the girl needs a payment plan right off the bat, or says she can only pay in two weeks. Why? You can't buy it, not without money.

Also, people who want to buy a specific pair of Bodyline shoes, specific size and colour, and are unwilling to pay a cent over the price on the website. You can't plan, fine, but you will have to pay more.

Not to mention that healthier foods are on average more expensive. Usually I can do at least half if not more of the entire cost as a first payment though. Not like the people who want a 4 month layaway with $25 payments each time.

I admit I did once do a 4 month, but it was for two limited edition bjds with a total cost of $700 so it was basically the average cost of a dress each month.

I usually just assume that if it's full back shirring (going from side seam to side seam) that it can fit 110cm and if it's full shirring all the way around it can fit 120cm. I have a lot of full back shirring dresses and that's what I base that off of.

I'm getting buyers that are still asking for measurements even when the full range is listed on lolibrary, though. I think if you want to verify lolibrary measurements, it's best to be specific, eg- "how far do you think the shirring stretches" or "I heard this dress runs smaller than lolibrary measurements, do you know if this is true?", otherwise I normally just copy the lolibrary measurements back at you, so you won't be getting anywhere anyway.

This seems like a good place to ask.

I've got a buyer who did put a non-refundable deposit on a dress, with a longer layaway time (months). I've bought from them before and they seemed reliable. However, it's been a couple of months and they haven't paid the rest. We're still in contact and I didn't specify specific payments each month, so technically nothing's really wrong.

I think my dilemma is whether I should and how often I should try to remind her about it -- I've only sent one email to ask how things are going and she's asked for extra photos. Since the deposit was non refundable and I'm not in need of money I don't really care much whether she ends up making the final payment or if she forfeits the deposit, but I do feel a little guilty if I keep mum and she forgets about it.

If anyone else has been in a similar situation I'd love to hear your stories and how they turned out as well.

Idk what to do in this situation /cgl/. When I refuse, she opened a PayPal claim: first she said that the dress was not sent, but I answered with the tracking number which shows it was delivered. Then she change the subject and said the dress was damaged, but when PP told her to return the dress in order of getting a refund, she changed it again saying the packet was empty.
I sent to PP all the photos of her FB while she wear the dress, but she ended wining the claim anyways.
So I'm without dress and without money.

This girl bumped her sales post after my friend messaged her saying she wanted to buy it and asked for a shipping quote (she didn't respond, she just bumped it.)
but she still ended up selling the dress to her[my friend]. wtff

One newbie in our comm bought a brand new Milky Cross JSK then wore it to the con. Then 2 weeks later she tried selling it as NWT. It actually even still had a tag, which only made it more pathetic.

Of course it quickly received "wtf? but I saw you wear it" response to which she reacted by immediately rage-quitting the comm and badmouthing it on her personal FB. The girl actually even got the dress dirty and got help from other lolitas at the con, but still insisted she only left because of personal vendettas and bullying in the comm. Because apparently in her mind telling someone they could improve their coord is far worse (and harassment of course) than trying to push an unwashed dress as brand new for above retail price...
