I wonder how miss pajama-rama-banana (or whatever she is called) got those secret posts taken down. The use of those images falls under free speech laws. This is only going to make her more unpopular within the community - drama around her was already fading.

Get one of those lint-roller things and avoid contact w/ pets while in lolita unless you absolutely have to. That sounds harsh, but I just mean keep your clothes where pets can't get to them, and don't go holding your cat while you're in your dress.

Sometimes pet hair is inevitable, so the lint rollers are good quick fixes to take w/ you.

>> No.8590731

I generally keep my cat away from my closet/lolita, but she still tends to pounce on my petticoat when I take it out.
Invest in a decent lint roller, and you'll be fine.

How bad are piercings in lolita, really? I am considering getting a septum while I still can (uni student), and while I would eventually like to switch it for something small, cute, and unnoticeable, supposedly it's bad to switch pieces/flip it during the first few weeks.

Oh god, this reminds me. My cat has this weird obsession with anything petticoat-material. The first time I noticed was when he chewed and drooled all over a costume petticoat I had for Halloween one year. It's like that with anything of that texture.

Idk man.

This is just my opinion but I think that of all piercings (save for some of the really insane ones), septum piercings are by far the ugliest and look worst with lolita. They make you look like you're constantly dripping something from your nose. If you just want a piercing and want one that still looks okay with lolita I'd get a nostril or lip one.

Anon i have my septum done, and have had it for 2yrs now.
You can flip it up during the first weeks no worry but it might hurt cause of the swelling and may be sore. make sure you are letting your piercer know you will/need to flip it up at times during the first few weeks.
As for does it go with lolita?
I honestly don't think it does. I mean i love septums i think they are one of my favorite piercings but for lolita not even in gothic do i think it looks right.
Sure you can try to find a clicker or hugger that look/matches your coord but it doesnt really work out well.
So over all get the piercing if you really want, but it sadly doesnt really go with lolita.

Need advice on what to do about a seller. I bought something online from Lacemarket. When it arrives, there is a really disgusting mildew smell that comes from the garment. Actually this is rational. If people don't want to be helped, there is no sense in wasting your time helping someone who just refuses to listen or ultimately doesn't care about improving.

Normally when I do give concrit (which is rare) I try to avoid using those terms as well. Namely because it comes off as bitchy and confrontational. When you're trying to uphold a reputation in a community, be it as a shop owner, or someone running a blog, or whatever, you don't want that following you around. There's also a huge difference between the following statements.

"You may want to consider using higher quality lace for your handmade items in the future, as cheaper raschel lace can really look cheap. I would also suggest spending more time researching the fashion as the handmade dress you made, while cute in design, just won't hold a petticoat and is lacking elements that make it fit into lolita."

Rather than

"Those wristcuffs are ita as fuck and that dress isn't lolita at all."

First of all, you sound more intelligent. Second, it's directing someone into a better direction rather than making them feel like total shit. The first is actual constructive criticism. The last is just being bitchy.

Personally, I feel there's nothing to gain from putting down others so I try to refrain from that sort of talk when I type, especially when my name is attached to it. It's nothing to do about asspatting or coddling crybabies. A crybaby is still going to cry over rational and constructive critique. It's more about just trying to be a helpful and decent person.

>> No.8591716

>>8591711
I don't think anyone is saying that it's appropriate to go around telling people they look ita as fuck. IMO there is a big difference between calling someone/something ita and politely telling them it's not lolita or not suitable for lolita.

2011-sweet Lolita is going down

Sugary Carnival is going down... OPs back then of 500 usd, now in 250 usd, I predict 200 shipped in a year or two. The same as Dreamy doll house. Maybe Toy parade.

I have their extra firm compression stuff so it's not comfy like wearing leggings is, you definitely feel some pressure and it's a bit of a mission getting them on. I wouldn't want to try exercising or eating a big meal in them but walking around town etc is fine, I've also worn them on a 12hr flight when I put on holiday weight and couldn't button my jeans, and was okay although got a bit hot and sweaty by the end. However the trade off is nice smooth lines, basically my shape is the same as if I suck my tummy in a bit in front of the mirrror, slightly slimmer and looks smoother. You aren't going to get a huge waist reduction and overall change in your figure in the same way that a corset potentially can, but they're also cheaper

Would anyone be interested in a leaving Lolita thread? Aimed at discussing what to do after you leave, reusing Lolita clothes for casual wear, advice, stuff like that? I love Lolita fashion but I am considering leaving it because I can't stand the petticoat anymore. If it's something there's interest in, I'll start a thread, otherwise my question is: is it possible to wear any Lolita dresses without petticoats as normal fashion?

I'm also curious, is there any really comfortable, casual/low level poof petticoats out there? Before I really leave I want to try a low poof and more comfortable petti and see if that changes my feelings. It's easier to go read the otome thread (or other jfash thread) if you want to do a different style that doesn't involve a petticoat.

For wearing lolita things without being full on lolita, the old livejournal comm was called daily-ala-mode, though I don't know how active it is anymore. Maybe start a "lolita a la mode style" thread if you want to see more photos of lolita items being worn normally?

As for petticoats, Catherine's Cottage makes a very limp one, the sizing isn't big though. Alternatively, you can use some skirts as petticoats, I have a chiffon skirt from taobao that happens to be particularly poofy, so I use it instead of a petti when I'm going casual. Most girls use deflated petticoats, I have CP petti that finally needs replacing, it's almost six years old and makes a very good flat petti now.

I'd say Japanese lolitas do still wear petticoats, I only ever saw fully-poofed lolitas while at Amerimura, La Foret and Takeshita Doori, plus snaps of brand tea parties (you can find them on brand blogs sometimes) usually show fully poofed lolitas as well. More likely they use a petticoat when they need to go full lolita, or skip the petti when they want to go casual.

hmm, when i was living there i definitely saw girls wearing at least a light petticoat when they were out and about in lolita. it's possible it has to do with the area, I lived in the heart of tokyo so people were generally more dressy as a whole.

I think it's generally because of the compact nature of public spaces in Japan. A full petti is a pain in the ass not only for you to maneuver in, but for those around you who want a little personal space.

It makes sense that tea parties and store meets would be fully done up.

Yeah, I can see how if a lolita was going somewhere crowded or with narrow spaces, they'd opt out of the petticoat. But I wouldn't take that as a mandate that lolitas no longer wear petticoats. Besides, a lot of the rectangle skirts (from baby/aatp especially) tend to look better with a light petticoat than no petti anyway.

Whoa thanks for the responses, I didn't realize that people were okay with lolitas skipping the petticoat if it's impractical. Maybe I'll try skipping it a few times. I like bloomers but the petticoat is always just so big and hot and I hate wearing it. I'll check out CC's petties, though I guess it makes more sense to get one that's a low poof to begin with instead of de-fluffing one.

I like the idea of an a-la-mode thread, so I think I might start one of those instead because I'm not really looking for a vent thread. and I'd like to see coords.

Next time another hard situation comes around remember: you did it before, you survived it before and you will get through this. Sorry if this is a really stupid question, but I just purchased a Metamorphose dress that comes with a detachable bow on the front of the dress. /cgl/ I need your professional help, I'm in a crisis situation.
Some background story first:
>Leave lolita in 2009 b/c I lost interest in the fashion
>Switch to Gyaru b/c the lifestyle speaks more to me
>Eventually leave Gyaru too b/c school, work, need to be formal irl
>Only wear it to con's

Then 2015 happened:
>Meet girl who lives in the same city as I do
>She's into lolita, oldschool lolita and is very well dressed
>Get slight feels to go back to the fashion
>Shake it off b/c I had my best time
>Still searching for lolita clothing at Y!Japan Auctions and Rakuten
>Find out that lolita has become more affordable for me
>Finds super cute JSK
>GET A FEELING SO COMPLICATED
>End up making a moodboard on what to coord the JSK with
>Seriously debating with my inner self if I should order it all

I've been out of the fashion for 6 years but my new friend is giving me so many feels for lolita again. I'd love to dress up together with her for meet's and such because at the time I was into lolita I didn't have anyone to share my love for the fashion with.
Is it just me trying to relive my youth (I was 15/16 at the time I was very into lolita) or are these legitimate feelings to get back into the fashion--- I'm stuck, please help me ;_;

Pic also related; it's the moodboard I made. The colors are a bit off but I'm guessing the JSK's pictures have different lightning?
I'm also thinking of ordering some of the accessories- help
Critique on my dated coording skills is also appreciated. I mean, a lot has changed in these 6 years.

This look is so charming. I think it'd be worth giving a try, even if it's just for one day, I'm sure you'll be able to resell the pieces with old school looks becoming in vogue (among old fucks like us).

Actually, a friend of mine fell out of lolita for similar reasons, although she never cared about being involved in the main comm. She stuck to old school sweet for a long time and felt out of touch with the constant churning of prints and ott trends.

You should get a pair of black shoes though. I love shiro lolita, but I think you'd make more use out of them than white shoes.

Yeah, I think this looks fine because it mimics the appearance of hair when it's pulled up. Depends on the coord/style though.

What are good shopping services for online shops like Axes Femme or Antique Beast? I lost track of who's in business.

Does anyone have a download link for the japanese mercari app? I can't get it from the app store (eurofag) and my google-fu is failing me today.

You don't need a shopping service for Antique Beast.

I use Japonica both for auctions and regular online shopping, never had a problem with them so far and the fees they charge are not too high.

Not that anon but maybe they need an ss so they can have the package value marked down to avoid custom fees.

As much as I hate sharing this because it's my secret...

Create a Japanese iTunes account. That's the only way to get it.

AB only opens up for a week or so every few months. Sign up for their online newsletter and they'll send out an email when they're preparing to open up.

The one thing I will never agree with most of /cgl/ on is hair. I think she looks really fucking cute with this hair, I think girls with short hair look cute, etc - in lolita, I think people have to be mindful of it (she would look strange in sweet with this hair, unless it was styled like in >>8599973 ), but that doesn't mean you're automatically an ita.

> 当方喫煙はしま せん。

Auto translate is turning this into gibberish. Is my interpretation that it means the item comes from a household with smokers right?

Does anyone use ChibiTenshi as their SS? Does she send your invoice when your item arrives with her or after she's won it? This is my first time with her and since I've got good feedback I didn't have to put anything down.

I'm paranoid that I missed an e-mail somehow and she'll think I'm a flaky buyer.

Does anyone have examples of what round headdresses like pic related look like worn? Preferably flat ones without any big rose on it.

The first time I used her she saw I had good feedback and didn't invoice me until she had the item and was ready to ship, so instead of multiple payments it was just one at the very end. She will probably email you when she's ready to ship out since you have good feedback too.

If you buy it and have already paid for it then you have priority.
One time I really wanted a dress but had to go to yoga so I just let the page open on my computer in the window where you place your address and hoped.
I hadn't even paid yet and the dress had already been listed as sold out (aka bought by me).
