The only thing that bugs me about this girl is her online moniker. She calls herself the Hijabi lolita like she's the only one and this makes her special. She isn't the only one and she isnt special. She does dress very well though.

>> No.8439504

I don't get it. I thought the whole point of Lolita was to fit into the style's somewhat rigid rules. Why isn't this girl getting torn a new one by a sea of saltines?

The point of the hijab is to cover the hair because hair is considered sexual

Some 'stricter' branches of Christianity still require headscarfs. Covering of the hair can also be found in Judaism (women can often get away with using wigs though, it's something of a technicality), plus many other religions and branches, can't be assed to list them all, have a picture (it's a start but by no means exhaustive).

Also sage for all this irrelevant twaddle in the thread.

Hair is not "considered sexual"- its considered part of feminine physical beauty. The point of hijab is modesty, but not quite the western concept of modesty. In Islam, the material world (dunya) is a test. You're supposed to remain connected to your faith and the virtues it preaches and not fall prey to things like materialism or other unnecessary desires.

Women (and men) are encouraged to practice modesty as a way to not draw attention to the superficial. The Qur'an basically says women should cover themselves as to "be known and not be abused". So basically, its both a declaration of faith and a measure to dissuade harassment and objectification so they may be seen for who they are and not how they look.

Not all Muslims wear the veil or dress according to hijab, but it is encouraged.

And since it -always- gets brought up in threads like this, no cosplay and lolita do not go against hijab just because they're "flashy". They're hobbies and not something that you wear every day.

They look so drawn on. She should switch from pencil/powder to browgel/mascara. Bet they'll look much more natural.

I think her coords are fantastic and she must have so many hijabs cause they always seem to match the colors of her coords so well.
Not a fan of her religion but I don't have a problem with hijabs when the women themselves choose to wear them. She hasn't been forced to wear it.
Plus who am I to judge anyway. Let the girl be.
She seems really nice too.

Because its a hobby, it doesn't necessarily mean that you've rejected spirituality. Muslim lolitas are still capable of practicing the 5 pillars of Islam and adhering to the basic ideals of the religion. I'm not a lolita, but from what I understand, lolitas only put the fashion on for meet-ups and events. There's a difference between doing this and, say, wearing pic related every day.

Islam doesn't forbid hobbies and entertainment, it just discourages you from getting too attached to things to a point where you forget about the teachings of the religion (humility, charity).

There's many different interpretations of what hijab is and some more conservative Muslims might believe that lolita goes against hijab, but that's not how everyone perceives it.

>> No.8439889

It amuses me that people bang on about modesty in lolita in the sense of not making it too sexy or showing too much skin, and then a lolita wears a headscarf and it's all 'nooo that's too much covering up'.

>>8439830
Also religious text and practices are full of apparent contradictions, what it comes down to is ones personal path of faith and what they feel is right. That shit is none of by business. Girl looks great, I hope to see more from her.

>>8439504
She's cute and her hijab matches her coords. She's actually very good at coordinating. I'm not a religious person, but her own religious views are her own business. She doesn't seem like a bad person, and she's good at lolita, so I have little reason to complain about her.
