In all honesty, I hear a lot of very young people say this.

"She/he can't really be having problems, they talk about them too much. People with REAL problems don't talk about it so much/show pictures all the time/seek attention, so they must be faking." Normally this followed up with something like "Not like me, I keep all my suffering to myself. That's how I know I'm right."

People have different personalities, but go through similar problems. Very smart people will experience hardship differently than more naive people. The introverted and shy react differently than extroverted. It's like how people will mock teens who cut, implying that if they really meant it, if they really had a problem, they would have a true suicide attempt. Not realizing that cutting at all means you have pretty significant issues regardless.

I say this as someone who kept my issues to myself until they burst out in a very unfortunate place. She might just be attention seeking, sure, but using tumblr as your personal diary isn't necessarily an indicator that there's really nothing wrong with her life.

Hell, I knew a girl who constantly talked about her abusive dad, getting knocked up at age 15, and her horrific problems nonstop. To people she barely knew. And she wasn't lying.

People with issues don't always know social skills well. /cgl/ should know that.

I know this woman. Well I know her Girlfriend, there is so much drama around them because the woman is a compulsive liar. Teenagers in particular are unstable, so some might go through crazy phases while others might be more relaxed in that sense.

While I do agree that not everyone keeps their shit to themselves when they have issues, there is a big difference between showing signs of something really serious happening in your life and just taking every opportunity to showcase how bad you have it.

Generally speaking, people with dysmorphia don't like to show their bodies because they do not feel good in their own skin, so they avoid to show their body to everyone.

This girl has attention issues where she needs constant reassurance she's okay. This also goes for some teenagers who cut. Some teenagers cut because they're seeking for attention or for people to take them seriously by dubbing them as ill, and yes this also happens. Not all the people who cut do so because they're depressed or have really severe issues; they do so because they want attention, and they want a lot of it.

So what I'm trying to say is that there's people who you can tell they're seriously not okay, and then there's people like this chick who really just seem to be attention whoring.
