7225854 No.7225854[DELETED]  [Reply] [Original]

Gothic Lolita wigs has opened their contest up to voting, and some of the people on top are really disappointing. In fact, the current rank 2 girl is clearly wearing an ita ebay wa-lolita monstrocity.

What are your opinions? Do you think it would be funny if an ita won? Would you prefer that only beautiful people won? Would you rather vote for dramatic girls you know will be extremely entertaining?

People don't actually still spend money on their wigs right? I made the mistake of not heeding the warnings, never again. Prices aren't worth what you receive, and if you leave a low ranked critique, they simply won't post it.

When did you buy from them? I saw they're using a new fiber for their wigs now. I'm curious if they'll be decent. I remember seeing the reviews a years ago but a few girls in my community wear their wigs and they looked ok in person.

Bought the neo classic style about a month ago, It was mildly frizzy, and the bangs and end pieces near the ears were trimmed poorly, It's not unwearable, but the amount of tlc it will need before wear, and considering I paid $50 for the thing, not worth it. You can get cheaper wigs that look ten times as nice out of the bag and require little work elsewhere.

To top it off I cant even have the bangs separated even slightly or the wig cap I wear will show., no matter how far up or down on my forehead I put it or however thick I try to style the bangs.

You guys complaining about GLW "tangling easily" must not know how to care for your wigs, I've bought several from GLW and they were all nice, almost lockshop quality, but shinier. Everyone needs to stop complaining about the wigs being easily 'tangled.' They're fucking wigs, they're bound to get tangled because they're not real hair. They're basically a bunch of very small, delicate strings whisking around in the wind and conditions.

My Cyperous wig and two hairpieces tangle at about the same rate as both of my GLW wigs, and I dropped about $150 on the Cyperous ones.
Is the Cyperous wig anything like GLW insofar as style and color? Hell no, that's why I spent that much for it. But as far as it being tangled? Yeah nah, about the same as any other wig.

>>7227303
I own their Countess too, I expected the 'matted' look of the teased fibers (there's just no other way they'd accomplish a bump like that; the 'matting' isn't too noticeable in pictures) but I was disappointed with the length. They muses made it look like the hair was so much longer.

Also with the bangs, I encountered the same issue. You just have to find a swipe that works for you. I'd advise heavily against doing a straight cut.

>My wigs aren't heat resistant either
They are, but at an extremely low heat to the point of it being irrelevant. Meaning I don't bother with their wigs that look like they'd need restyling and maintenance after a few wears, such as the ones with tight curls.

The best advice I can give is don't buy overcomplicated styles. I've personally only ever bought their twintails (contrary to what people say, they do have versatile styles) and some specialty wigs such as the countess. I'd never buy their ringlets or curled bobs. Even some of the looser curls seem like a bitch and a half to redo.

I tried using curlers and it melted the bottom (they were set to 80°C) so I had to cut it off. I couldn't get it to set the hair with the hot water method because obviously if it melts at 80°C, the water had to be cooler than that. There's a lot of fibres, they are very full and heavy, so it makes it difficult to style. I was trying to put the curls back into the wig, since it turned into a big frizzy mess when I wore it out only once. In the end I just trimmed off the damage as best I could and gave it away to someone else who really wanted it for some reason.

I'm going to get out my twintail and test mine, you've got me curious. I believe mine's a 2010/11 blended wig.

The curls fell out of my wig a longggg time ago since I brushed them out, but its kept a nice wave and every now and then I like to make leia inspired buns with it.

>> No.7229591

>>7229585
I already gave the wigs away. They really were not good quality and more trouble than they were worth. If a wig is advertised as heat resistant, then I expect to be able to style it with my low heat curlers. I also don't expect a company to throw a bitchfit when you email them asking about the temperatures and explaining that the fibres got damaged from low heat. Just not worth the time or effort. For the same price, I'd rather just buy from a more trusted source.

Apologies anon, my curling iron broke and it wouldn't turn on, so I had to use my flat iron. I figured it's the same principle though to test the heat.

So here's my freaky wig head. I tested the countess wig since it's the newest one I have. This is what it looks like after I take it out of the bag and put a bow on it.

And this is the result after I set my iron to the lowest heat option. Compared to the before pic you can see that this piece is significantly straighter and it didn't melt.

>> No.7229732

Unfortunately I have no idea. It's a conair straightener and it has settings numbered 1-30. 30 is what did the melting damage, and 1 got me the result in the last pic. If I knew the exact temps I'd tell ya, although I'd venture to assume that almost all low settings would be fine. I think the highest setting is about 400°F but I'm not sure what the lowest setting is. To be honest, heat resistant wigs are generally heat resistant up to like 350°F.

>> No.7229759

>>7229749
low settings are usually as low as 165°F Most lower end heat resistant wigs do up to 200°F mid to high end ones can go up to 250°F or more.

>> No.7229770

>>7229759
GLW state that their "high temperature fiber" can be heated up to 180°F which seems pretty low for a high temperature fiber. I know they're a much higher end wig company, but Cyperous wigs can go up to 160°C, which is like 320°F.

>> No.7229774

>>7229770
Honestly, Bodyline has higher temps for their wigs. I've used 200°F on my bodyline and nothing happened.

I'm pretty sure GLW is as bad as Milanoo at this point, the way they operate as a company, they way they don't take criticism, they're an ita magnet who has a horde of dumb itas defending them to the gills, and they have shit quality and basically are starting to steal money.

Thanks for experimenting, anon! Looks like it held up pretty well on the low setting. Maybe mine were just from one of the bad batches. I know they had a lot of hit or miss quality back around the time I got mine, due to bouncing around various warehouses. Although that being said, it was held on a little longer than a straightener is held on for, so maybe that makes a difference. I really don't know!

>>7229759
The lowest setting on my heat tools that melted my wig was only 80°C/176°F. I would guess that's due to being on the lower end of a heat resistant fibre? I really don't consider that temperature to be heat resistant though.

>> No.7229789

>>7229775
Not trying to belittle your experience with them, but are you sure your curler's temperature is accurate? That temp is pretty much at the top of their recommended styling heat. If your curler is hotter than it says it is then it could have been an issue with that rather than your wig.

I just use a wide toothed comb, very slowly and gently, comb from the bottom up, never comb near your wefts. You can twist the curls back into shape with your fingers. As long as you've never used heat on the fibers at all, they will go back into place.
I don't own any ringlet wigs though or anything besides loose curls, so it may not work on super curled wigs?
