woops, looks like the last coord thread is autosaging.

can someone help me with a coord for this skirt?
i'm thinking sax x brown, yellow x brown or red x brown
this will be my first skirt though, so i'm a little overwhelmed.

I'm not ashore experienced lolita, but I feel like those colors will look kind of off gross together. Pink generation, or off white I feel would look best.

when i think of red x brown i dont think chocolate covered strawberries.
i think of bloody stool.
some colorways just evoke people to be grossed out (i think green x orange was another?), my sister showed me some study a long time ago.

>> No.7013467

>>7013463
Well I definitely have a strong distaste for green-toned brown, but anything warm hasn't had that feeling for me. Warm brown makes me think of chocolate and trees and leather.
I guess it's just preferences. Yellow + brown makes people associate with a toilet, but brown + gold is very popular

sage for being unrelated to anything ever, but I really hate the way loli dresses look on hangers. They just look so sad and lifeless

I guess that's why they always look so bad when people wear them without petticoats. Even if you're not wearing it as lolita, half the time you can just tell that somehow that dress is not living up to its potential

I agree, but it's like 11pm and I'm way too lazy to get my mannequin and petticoat out, haha. I think *some* dresses look passable without a petticoat, if they're fairly plain and not too poofy anyways, but for the most part they just look depressing.

Either way, I always wear my petti with my dresses even if I'm not wearing lolita. I just like the poof, haha.

>>7018698
Thanks anon, that's a cute idea. I was just really thrown off by the weird grey tinge the background has, I think. I'll have to take one of the detachable bows with me the next time I go accessory shopping. It's probably not all that clear from the picture, but the dress has strawberries on it as well as roses, d'you think I should mix the two up a little?

It depends on what look you are going for. If you are going the more classic route (the one I took in the coord) I would emphasis the roses. If you want to do more subdued sweet I would emphasis the strawberries and go with a creme blouse and maybe strawberry accessories.

With a print this elaborate, you don't want to pair it with anything too flashy or you'll overpower the outfit. I love the idea of a red handbag with this, and between a statement bag and the skirt itself you really don't need another attention-grabbing piece. Stick to neutrals that repeat the geometric patterns, and top it off with tasteful jewelry.

This is such a busy dress, (not a bad thing!) you need to be careful not to overwhelm it or it's going to be a clusterfuck. Stick to black and the softer colors in the print (I picked mauve and lavender). Solid colored or sheer textured tights are your friend here, and the frame design was just begging to be paired with brass filigree jewelry. Good luck!

>>7019835
Glad you like it! Sadly, the jewelry blog where I found the necklace didn't mention where it could be purchased. Googling "faberge egg pendant" tends to get decent results, hopefully that'll help!

>>7019494
I'm guessing you don't want to go full-lolita for a school outfit, so I'd suggest a bolero or blazer, subtly patterned tights, structured bag and shoes, and you could top it off with a frilly hairpiece and cute jewelry. Loads of colors look great with brown, but salmon-pink, turquoise, and mauve are my favorites.

One of my dream dresses! Sorry my collage skills aren't that great, but here's a few ideas on how I would coord it.

You could mix it up with different colors from the glass, although I don't think the greens in the print would look very good in larger amounts so I stayed away from those and picked out the red and pink instead. For a more elaborate coord, I think mimicking the chest pearls with a nice 20's-style pearl headdress would be really pretty. For a more simple coord, just some nice rose and pearl corsages. Jewelry on this one is pretty no brainer, just grab some rhinestones in the colors of the print and you're basically set. I think nothing too flashy there since the print is already so attention grabbing.

I don't want to say it's /impossible/ to use the pastel bags in a classic outfit, but... it might be a little impossible. Between the shape and the color, the bag just screams "sweet." You could always use it in a more mature sweet outfit, of course.

The black bag, with the right accompaniment, can work in a more classic look. It's still going to be sweet-classic territory, but it's a far cry from Angelic Pretty's style.

This set for me is a sort of mid-century modern British princess. We have greys, tartan, and gold accents in the bag and shoe buckles. Theme is kinda "Fresh but Precocious/Studious".

I would like to see if I can get away without wearing a blouse, and opt for the shawl for modesty. Is this OK you think? I really don't want the fussiness of a blouse.

Also what sort of accents accessories I might be missing, especially for my hair. Not interested in loud bows, I feel like this person would want to come off as almost an adult.

I appreciate the help, it is my first time so be gentle.

As the other anon said; the reds don't match the dress. That dress is pinky/purple; not red.

I'd go with a cream/pink blouse (To match the light parts of the dress with a brown bag, brown shoes and pink accessories.

Also; ditch those socks and go with some plain cream coloured stockings/socks with an intricate pattern. The dress already has enough colours going on as it is.

Why not use a bright red as an accent?

Cherry red shoes, stocking prints, hair accessories, bags, ect. It would really pop and be far from boring.

Or you could go for some depth with some rich chocolaty browns, just make sure they are warm brown and and not too cool or it will clash.

I'd go with gold ribbon rather than silver, you already have gold going with the tote, so I wouldn't try adding more colors. I'm iffy on the socks as well, I'm not certain if the black/white goes with the rest.

That might be what I'm thinking of, your example looks similar to my thoughts.

Agree with the other anons, the reds don't match. Innocent world has some more purply red blouses if you still want to try to incorporate a darker red blouse. Definitely ditch the socks though, and try shoes with more of a heel to be more classic (the flats look rather sweet). Garnet jewelry or pinkish pearls will go beautifully, and a brown bag will definitely work although vintage John Romane pocketbooks have a sort of burgundy purply tone if you want to continue the theme.

In my personal opinion, don't wear a red wig or red tights with a bright red dress. Look for the accent colors that go unnoticed within the dress design. For example, on that dress in red I see white, baby blue, pastel pink, and gold. Two good starting head accessories are gold and pink chocomint stars, they don't cost that much and you can wear them with almost anything. Avoid white tights unless you have SUPER thin legs (again, in opinion...) Probably see about finding some OTKs that would look cute with this. Red/white harlequin tights would look cute. With a color that intense, I would go with a natural color wig.

That's about it.

Okay anon, I believe if you have fucking Seraphim on your skirt you go big or go home.

Instead of sticking to just black and white, introduce some more color into the mix. I chose royal burgundy and gold because it seemed most heavenly (I don't know if you can tell but the vest is dark crimson velvet). I like the feathered blouse because of the texture, but you could always do a black vest and crimson blouse instead. The skirt is simple but lovely, so really punch it up with color, jewelry, and hair accessories!

Wings have been really popular lately so you can get a bunch of winged jewelry and big crucifixes and go to town!

Took my sweet-ass time on this one. An interesting way to coordinate this dress would be to treat the deep blue as your neutral. Pull out a variety of colors from the print - green, pink, cyan, red. I would get rid of the socks, they are cute but the pink might be a bit to harsh in comparison to the dusty pink on the skirt. And the brown of the shoes doesn't seem to match, either, as all the other browns are lighter with a red tint. But maybe it just doesn't work out that much on paper and will look nice when worn. I also think a chiffon blouse would match even better, because of the light material of the skirt...but that's a matter of taste, I guess. What does everyone suggest in regards to tights when coordinating with this jsk?
I didn't order the printed tights from the series because my legs are kind of chunky and I usually need a queen size to fit.

I think this would go beautifully with a sheer chiffon blouse in cream/offwhite, or you could take it bolder with a red blouse that matches the print. Basically any blouse with a collar will do under a corset style JSK.

The roses on the print are definitely more of a pink than a red, but maybe that was just my fault. They just look more red to me in the pictures. The qualities alright, I'm really not a fan of safety pin detachments though (the cravat and the bow are both detachable) they just look very limp. Also when I got the choker the ribbons were fraying, but maybe it was just my luck.

I don't know where else to ask about this, but could anyone recommend a few basic pieces to go with the rest of my wardrobe? I have enough JSKs but not enough blouses, cardigans, shoes, accessories, etc. to go with them.

your wardrobe seems to go well with red shoes? i'm not sure what shoes would go with the red tart dress though (maybe black or brown? probably black..?). as for blouses, just short white puff sleeved ones or maybe long sleeved white blouses, but i think for Honey Cake a dark brown blouse would be cute. For accessories just get things that you think would match the theme or go well for a majority of the pieces.

Ditto on the red shoes, and maybe brown shoes as well? You can also consider getting things in ivory/cream (cardigans, or maybe even a blouse) since the JSKs don't seem to have stark white.

I have done dark brown with the Honey Cake in ivory and it goes so well together! Good luck!

I think a relatively plain cardigan and some heels could help it look more "grown up"

Thank you!! I have a pair of red AP tea parties but I haven't thought of adding brown into my wardrobe. Ill be on the lookout for ivory and brown items now

wow, if that's your idea of "grown up" I think you might need to take break from staring at sweet lolita and get out a bit more.

Would anybody help find/make a simple coord for these shoes? I'm not very good at putting things together nicely. If these shoes don't look good, tell me! Thanks in advance

I may have gotten a little carried away, but this was fun.
From what I can tell, it looks like your taste leans more toward otome than full-blown lolita, so you'll definitely want to invest in cardigans. Some basic in ivory/off-white will take you a loooong way. A soft, taupey brown is another great neutral that can add dimension to a lot of outfits. At least three of those dresses have red as an accent color, so I'd recommend some red pieces to mix and match between those. Pink is a dominant color in your wardrobe and it appears as an accent color in a couple pieces as well, so invest in a few pink accessories. Lastly, mint or sage green is going to be a great "wild card" color to throw into this mix; it complements all of your dominant colors (pink, ivory, and brown) beautifully, and would look amazing with the AP skirt. Good luck!

ZFJSJFKKSK thank you holy shit

All the pieces you picked out would work wonderfully with more than one dress, which I need! And I didn't think about adding mint either.

Can I get sauce on the mint cardigan if you have it?

You're very welcome! The mint cardigan is from Jane Marple. If you're looking to save some money, it would be a pretty simple sewing project to buy a plain cardigan and add frilly trim on your own.

Random collage so we don't waste the bump limit.
