See, I love how many kumya prints exist. It's not like Milky-chan where AP made only one dress with this easily marketable mascot then gave up on it. There's always going to be something for kumya fans, and if you don't like a release you can just wait 6 months for another shot.
That being said I love stuffed animals, so maybe I'm not the person to talk about this stuff. It would be nice to see more of the old mascots like Sophie, Judy, and Lillian. I think the last print that had them was Toys Fluffy Dream, wasn't it?

I wish I was more of a BTSSB girl because I am never disappointed with their quality and also love their in store shopping atmosphere. Unfortunately, they rarely make pieces I want (other than their Classic Series rereleases, which I’ll sometimes indulge in even if they don’t fit with my daily style). I wish I could get AP prints with BTSSB’s level of quality trims/fabric, whimsy, flattering cuts, and attention to detail. Until that day, I’ll stick with Meta.

Sakura Kumya ended up being much more detailed and cuter once there were higher quality pictures available. I had ordered the pink special set and some usakumya jewelry, but wish the other JSK cut also came in pink, as I prefer cuts with longer bodices. (I'll still be happy with the one I got though.)

I think this will be one of the only dresses I'll be ordering from BABY this year, though. I wasn't as impressed with the fashion show as I was last year.

That's a big reach anon. I've never seen an actual fat person pull off baby, even when the measurements are right. From the skirts to the larger cuts, it always has terrible fit. They might have big measurements, but they're still clearly designed for small chested and generally petite bodies.

That dress is fully shirred all around. If a real fatty tried to squeeze into it it would look horrible, just like those Shirring Princess dresses that got absolutely destroyed.
Not that they wouldn't try, just that it would look terrible and destroy the dress.

>> No.10838544 [DELETED]

>>10838531
The skirts are honestly pretty long as a petite (short) person, I don't think you need to be petite for that cut at least, unless you use a ridiculously poofy petticoat. Even with my biggest MLT petti the skirt nearly passes my knees. That might just be how it sits on each person's waist though.

>> No.10838557

>>10838540
They have, and it does.

>>10838544
NTA but their skirts look awful on fats. It's a classic example of just because something fits, doesn't mean it *fits*. There is never enough fabric for fats to look anything but oversized by comparison. I've seen custom skirts look good, but the Baby ones always look over stuffed, underpoofed, and comically out of proportion on fat bodies because they were designed to to allow you to breath, not to deal with extra rolls. (the ones with the tiny shirring panel make you long for the comfort of an iron corset).

>> No.10838567

>>10838544
>The skirts are honestly pretty long as a petite (short) person
As a tallita, Baby generally runs longer than other brands. If you look at their stock photos compared to AP it's almost part of the aesthetic differences.

>> No.10838568 [DELETED]

>>10838557
>NTA but their skirts look awful on fats
Petite for women's clothing means short, and that's why I clarified. If you're above reccomended measurements then it will be obvious and look bad, and you're better off going for custom sized stuff or tailoring your brand items.

If you're just one of those people who is plus sized in lolita but regular size in western clothes, this includes being tall or busty, it doesn't always mean you're fat. In that scenario longer pieces are ideal, as well as skirts so you don't have to deal with straps or boob problems.

If the dress were larger/cheaper it would be an ita staple for sure. This is one of those dresses that is deceptively hard to coordinate and if you're not careful, the dress will definitely wear you and not the other way around. At the same time when you tastefully lean into the razor edge of tacky, you can get really cool results. Personally I love the look here >>10842600 (except for the terrible face shop). Something about it feels kind of fresh proportionally, with those ankle socks and the wooden heel. This is a look very few people could really pull off or properly coordinate imho.

NTAYRT. But what is with everyone assuming that AP is *THE* fatty brand when the only fatty-friendly release they've done since 2019 has been the first HC rerelease. It's rare for them to release anything at or above a 110 cm bust. For awhile there during Covid, they weren't releasing shit over a 98cm bust.

Meanwhile, Baby and ATTP regularly release items with a full-back shirring cut. They offer plain pieces that are accomodating and release / re-release them fairly often. I would argue that Baby/ATTP is far more fatty friendly than AP ever was or will be.

(Lost the weight that made it hard to fit AP, but when I was big I almost exclusively wore Baby and now that I'm closer to my goals, I've become a Baby stan because quality and ease of getting shit I want.)

so cute, I adore flower prints but hate trying to match them with plain things so I'm so glad they brought some of the accessories back too.

are babys skirts as full irl as they look in stock pics? I haven't bought anything new from them in awhile and I'm scared that their current stuff might look bad with a smaller petticoat

you're gonna want a fluffy petti. in some dresses i need 2

>> No.10867887

>>10867853
They work with smaller and larger pettis. The newer dresses have much fuller skirts, especially their old school/classical series compared to older items in the same cuts. Babydoll cuts will work with smaller a-line petticoats and the regular waist cuts look fine with smaller ones but are probably best with a cupcake or very full a-line.

Did anyone manage to get the Scallop Hem Jumper Skirt? What do you think of it and how do you feel it compares to the original?

you guys know you can wear a less poofy petticoat right?

>> No.10879165

>>10879164
they mean they increased the hem circumference and then also use a very poofy petticoat. If you use a less poofy petticoat with the wider skirt it still won't look the same as the older pieces that had less hem circumference.

>> No.10879185

>>10879165
NAYRT but yeah, from experience, i can say a lot of these ultra poof skirts look deflated with a standard sized petticoat (as in, a petti that would inflate any AP dress), or look like you aren't wearing one at all unless you're layering 2-3 or own a poof monster/hoop skirt. their cotton is also a little heavy, and while that's generally a good thing it really doesn't help with the skirt deflation issue.

it depends on the dress, some work fine with lower poof, but a lot genuinely don't look right without some kind of 7 layer monster petti with its own god damn gravitational pull

it's in better material and has nicer drawings than AP. it's also more chaotic than AP. I don't think it looks like AP at all.
