I got mine, they didn't care and they barely checked, I showed the vaccine qr code thing on my phone and they had no scanner. Just vaguely looked and then gave me the wristband (greenish gold color no qr code, date, etc literally a plain wristband that you could probably buy online)
If you arent vaxxed you could literally take a screenshot of someone elses and photoshop your name onto it kek.

Fuck, that happened to my friend and I in '08 with Gurren Lagann autographs, the guy before us was the last one to get them. I didn't care that much because I wasn't really into GL but my friend was a huge fan and was really upset about it.

Speaking of the SOS thing, I was a big Haruhi fan during '07 and didn't get to see the concert because of the huge delay, I had another obligation (the rum party, speaking of blasts from the past) and the concert should've been well over before that but instead I waited in line for like 5 hours and then ran out of time and had to leave.

I don't think there would have been nearly as much rioting (at least not outside the state where the original incident happened) if people hadn't been out of work and stuck at home for months with cabin fever beforehand. It basically gave people an excuse to go outside and have officially sanctioned mass social gatherings in the name of "protesting" during a time when they weren't even allowed to eat at a restaurant. A lot of those people literally had nothing better to do.

Hangars are a bitch in the LA area, chances are you'll have to tie down outside. VNY has fancy FBOs that I'm sure can set hangar space up for you but they're really geared toward jets and it's probably expensive as fuck. I'd probably try WHP, maybe call up Vista Air there and see if they've got space. EMT might also be an option but if you've never been in there the approach is pretty fucky and kinda hard if you've never had an instructor show it to you. TOA might be an option too but I've only stopped there briefly and don't really know what the facilities are like. Yeah, and anon having access to a plane doesn't mean he's rich either. Could be a rental, or he could be in one of those flying clubs where the members all share a plane, or if he's working toward a commercial license he might have gone with the strategy of buying a cheap plane instead of renting, which can actually end up cheaper if you sell the plane when you're done with it considering you need 250 hours of flying minimum and most rental planes are $120+ an hour. No reason NOT to fly to a con if you've got a plane one way or another too, since you have to build hours one way or another and once you've got a decent experience level you get a lot more out of using the plane for travel than you would just buzzing around your local area.

My own training got derailed by covid but once I'm back to it I'm definitely gonna fly to cons.
