It pisses me off that AP has done so many impromptu MTOs this year (including adding LBS and Cherry Tramp just now), but they can't release the Candy Fairy JSK..? Why? It's easier to design and produce than the OP. AP knows JSKs are more popular too. Way to butcher an extremely popular series that was hyped during the tea party and we all waited months for.

And yet I'm going to get two colorways and be a sad frilly tent, because I would bet money that the original JSKs are going to be even harder to find.

The back panel might end up looking bulky if you lace it too tightly. I would recommend taking in the back panel for a better fit. You could also tighten the shirring by removing parts of the elastic, but it’s not as easy and I don’t see any back shirring on the stock photos despite it being mentioned in the description. Could it be that just the waist part is shirred? Or did they not want to bother adding proper shirring to a sample dress?

Could be a factory capacity issue. Sugary Carnival is a print, so it’s likely being produced at a different location. AP solids normally come in smaller batches. That’s part of the reason why dresses like Dreaming Fantasic Balloon and Triple Gingham sell out so quickly. Yes, they are popular, but the quantity is way more limited than JCT or LBS or any other popular print. This makes me think AP orders their solids from smaller factories which wouldn’t be able to handle a huge MTO with many cuts and colours.

What is the quality of AP ribbon like these days?

Asking from the POV of someone who hasn't bought an AP dress or blouse post-2016-ish.

The picture of the Lace Up blouse looks like actual craft store ribbon, and I'm scared because I went out on a limb and bought it. I'm already fumbling around and looking up places to buy better quality ribbon if I need to replace it.

I'm used to the super soft, flowy ribbons that AP used for corset lacing. Are the new ribbons stiff and bad quality, or is it just a bad picture?

My black jsk should arrive tomorrow. It has the grosgrain fabric which is the same as Neon Star Diner and Fancy Candy I think. It’s thick and holds shape well, but still has a bit of that plasticky poly feel. Still I like it more than the thin viyella or w/e it’s called. I'm not one of the anons who hate anything polyester, but it really has a plastic-y feel to it. I got my jsk and it’s the same fabric as Neon Star Diner, so if you have it you’ll know what to expect. Other than that >>10644607 is pretty accurate to how I feel. I’m a little worried the belt might peel eventually, but I haven’t had that issue with the drained cherry belt, and I think it’s the same stuff. I wear that dress sparingly though. Oh, and for the KC I like that the bow isn’t tacked on to the headband so there’s the option of wearing just a headband. Overall I’m happy with it.

I got the blouse too, though and it’s huge. The shoulder measurement is the same as my other blouses but the body is definitely wider, even than my chiffon ones. My Milkshake blouses are the same though so maybe all new blouses are like this. I don’t understand why they make them like this.

I'm seeing a lot of people jump ship on the Candy Fairy MTO (I find it almost comical because AP made the size larger and even plus size girls are saying they want the JSK instead. They realize the JSK would have smaller measurements... right?). I agree in general it's a huge disappointment (redesign, materials, etc) but what are the chances everyone catches severe FOMO once the MTO reservations close?

I'm going to spend around $1k because I know I'd kick myself if I didn't take the chance (even if AP releases the JSK later, I'd still buy that too). After passing up a ton of Candy Fairys in bad condition, I kind of give up waiting and the OP will at least scratch my itch. I know it's a drop in the bucket, but I also want to monetarily support AP doing these MTOs of old solids/prints. It sucks that less orders will be placed because everyone prefers the JSK (myself included) and AP will have no motivation to even think about doing a JSK MTO later.

I'm just curious what everyone thinks. Are you getting the MTO? Do you think people will regret sitting out? Is the redesign really that much more terrible than modern AP?

Honestly I can see it going both ways - if the OP MTO doesn't go well, they won't pursue a JSK release. If the OP MTO does go well, they'll be satisfied and won't release the JSK. It's hard to know what AP is thinking, seeing as how they make such questionable choices in the first place.

The only thing that can save us is if Japanese and Chinese lolitas complain about the lack of JSK/pink color.

If worn with the brooches 12cm apart the garland would look like an exact half circle, which would be a little awkward. So if you wear the brooches further apart, i.e. ~30cm so on on both your JSK straps you'd get an elongated half circle like shown in the pic. If you straigten out the brooch and lay it flat against a ruler, you'd measure 60cm, but a curved garland is way cuter than a straight line.

Thought of buying the cute garland brooch, but not for that stupid price.

This time I managed to get the sneakers I wanted and a pair of socks.

The VIP release went really smoothly, with no lag or crash, but the general release was a bloodbath. Not as big as for Jelly Candy Toys, but still irritating with all lags and 502 errors.
