Earlier today I sent a mail order for a sold out dress on Baby's jp online shop. But then I found the dress later on Xianyu and now I want to cancel my special order inquiry. I haven't even been confirmed by Baby whether they have the dress or not but if they email me back saying they do, will Baby cut off my head if I say I want to cancel it?

The important thing is relative contrast. A cord that is just ivory and white can look cute because the main contrast is between the ivory and white (picrel), but a cord that is ivory, white and red will look weird because the main contrast is between the red and white/ivory and the white/ivory just looks mismatched because it’s overshadowed by the red.

A warm ivory could possibly go with beige but a yellow/cool ivory probably wont.

My favorite are the ones made of satin or silk, something that looks like a higher class bombshell look rather than a cheapo thing. This but if they can't get piercings due to medical reasons they likely have growths or some type of earlobe that clip ons would be uncomfortable too. If you have a hime cut with thicker side pieces or wear your hair all or partially down your ears are less visible or noticable anyway. No one is going to complain and if they do they're probably the type of person to demand people wear contacts instead of matching glasses with lolita or get out of their wheelchair or hide their cane for photos. The other option is to just not wear earrings though. Which is a valid option. Other than ear cuffs, I can't think of options that don't squeeze your earlobe to a degree in order to secure the earring besides pierced earrings. It's far easier to just choose other jewelry. Earrings are rarely noticed anyway unless your hair is really short in that area like a pixie cut or up all the time.

>> No.10638763

>>10638722
Yes, it's not ita or a faux pas, but there's literally so many options. It looks better with them.
Just because you can't think of examples doesn't mean the options aren't there. I'm guessing you have pierced ears or haven't ever shopped for earrings in Japan.
There's non-hole pierce, ear hooks, ear cuffs, not too mention the multiple options of clip ons (with screw back being the most comfortable lever back earrings I've ever worn).

I have pierced ears AND have shopped for earrings in Japan multiple times. The screw back still "squish" your ear as all clip ons/non pierce earrings like that do which if they have some issue with their earlobe that surgery is needed for can't be comfortable. I mentioned cuffs as well; but those go on a different part of your ear than regular eareings anyway and are a different look. All clip ons like screw backs and clamp types rely on the friction of two things pressing on either side of the earlobe and while that's fine for normal people with unpierced ears, anon specifically mentioned they have a special circumstance. I also find all types of clip ons I tried in Japan far less comfortable than pierced earrings except cuffs. Sometimes the clip on types have cuter options so I have bought and worn them too. I can't name each type specifically but the issue of your earlobe being squeezed to a degree is probably a factor and unless anon shows us their specific ears or gives more detail, there's no guarantee they'd be able to wear them. Also unless you mean a specific type I'm not aware of the name of, earring hooks are for pierced ears too. Or do you mean a type that hooks not through a hole but over or around different part of the ear? Basically a cuff but more loose?
So I'd just reccomend not wearing them if the comfort is an issue.

No, they don't. You're wearing it wrong if they do. It doesn't need to be that tight unless your earrings are really heavy. But at that point I'd switch it to a cuff or hook to carry the weight.

I don't have pierced ears at all so I really don't see why you're arguing this if you have to wear it so tight. Picrel for ear hooks. They can be worn in multiple positions on the ear and this isn't the only type.

If someone has earlobes with enough issues to require surgery to fix/get piercings, even the amount of pressure you need to hold on a clip on might cause them pain.

I'm not saying those things aren't an option, I literally said they would need to be more specific to know what is right for them, and earrings aren't required in lolita plus brand/specific motifs in earrings may not be available in other non pierced styles, the hook and cuff combo example in your picrel could work for them, but if we don't know the location and type of the problem with their ears the easiest solution is to just...not spend money on earrings because they aren't a requirement in the fashion.

You're the one assuming they CAN wear all these other types without any information. If it was really about just hooking the jump ring on another attachment method and what's available doesn't matter, then just tell them to do that with brand earrings and buy their own attachment method, not look for other Japanese nonpierced earrings. The issue remains that we don't know what their ears are like. Have a good day though cause I'm not trying to argue just wanted help anon.

Hm, I'm not sure what that means, but here's what my shipping record looked like if it's any help. I nearly shat myself when I saw "Item returned from import Customs" -- I thought it meant it got returned to Japan at first. Apparently it just means that it was OK'd by customs and given back to the shipping service to be delivered.

What's the affordable, but decent-looking fabric option for making the "skin" of an human character plush? A friend of mine is commissioning me to make her the plushes from Maid-Sama and I've never made a plush of a human character before, so I'm not sure what to use. I made a mockup using fleece because it's what I had on hand, but it seems like it would be better suited for the hair. I was testing out a different pattern using cotton which seemed.... skin-like (?), but I was planning on making the clothing out of cotton so I didn't know if that would look weird? Am I just overthinking this or..? Any help would be appreciated.

I only make hand sewn alterations, but I highly recommend some high quality basics:
1. Sewing scissors that you only use for fabric and thread cutting.
2. Strong thick cotton thread and pure silk thread if you have silk items to sew. Usually you match the thread type to the fabric you are sewing - the mini sewing kit threads are garbage quality imo.
3. A multi-pack of needles will do.
4. Pack of pins and a pincushion (I have a cute strawberry one)
5. A loose measuring tape

No, they're actually perfect for beginner's because you save money on buying all the little knick-knacks which you can upgrade later on. That being said, they're not going to be the best quality for that price obviously. Use it as a stepping stone for getting into the hobby and making the investment of real tools worth it. To build on what the other anon said, I'd say buy the sewing kit, a pair of good scissors, and a spool of good black/white thread (unless the kit comes with a good brand like Coats & Clark, Gutterman, etc) -- everything else in the kit will work just fine.

Second this all this, but I'm gonna add on items that are sort of optioaln but I use very frequently:

>seam gauge
You can get by with a measuring tape or a small ruler, but being able to set a specific measurement on the seam gauge and then just check multiple spots really quickly is so convenient for me.
>something to mark fabric
Chalk, fabric pencil, fabric marker, transfer paper and rolling wheel, those Frixion pens - your choice but I find it important to be able to reliably mark fabric when sewing.

Especially seconding the thread. Sewing kits have shitty quality thread, it falls apart and if you put it in a sewing machine, it'll shred and leave lint behind which can fuck with your tension and how well your machine sewing in general. Get good thread.

I've seen a lot of different methods for tying waist ties, I personally do my ties from the front in front of my mirror and then reattach them on the back. The pieces with neck ties I own have thin straps so I don't think too hard about those. I just tie them like I would a pair of shoes since my hair covers them anyways.

roll the waistband of your petti so it sits slightly lower than your waist/at your hips. This depends on the aesthetic you're going for (for example, not possible with peeking bloomers) but you can replace bloomers with gym shorts in or something similarly comfortable. They're not supposed to be seen, anyway. And "smaller" cut bloomers that are supposed to be worn on the hip exist too. Swap tights for OTKs/ankle socks when possible. Any combination of these will help provide a tiny bit of relief.

I've also heard of some people wearing a corset underneath their clothing and placing the waistbands of the petti and skirt on top. The stiffness of the corset means the elastic waistband won't feel like it's squeezing you. Ymmv on that one.

On the other hand, if you choose e-packet, they won't automatically ship to you/send an invoice, since that has not resumed. You have to email them and request Yamato. No harm asking her to lower the price. I do sometimes and it's always worked. As long as it's not more than a 20% reduction, it's not rude. I usually phrase it "I saw the JSK usually sells for about x, would you be willing to take y?" I wouldn't mention the past sale you saw her name on.

I would say Meta but they're sold out, so that might be why you're asking in the first place...

Contrary to what the other anon said, asking people to lower a BIN price is pretty bad taste. Don't get me wrong, I kind of hate it when I see someone buy something, then sell it a few months later for more, but they are most likely aware of what they are doing.
Telling them that you want it for the price they bought it for is just calling them out, and get most likely they will not take kindly to it. In the end, $20 isn't really something to haggle about. They might have paid that much for shipping and want it back.

I believe so, I think the sleeves are slightly different. Now I forget if this is for kimono specifically or also applies to yukata, but women's sleeves are left open/unsewn near underarm, and men's are sewn all the way closed. Also, men's yukata and kimono are worn without ohashori, the little fold at the waist.

When you purchase a women's yukata, the correct length is about your height +/- 10 cm. You adjust the width of the ohashori to get the bottom hem at the correct height, so you have some leeway. But, also be aware that as of recently it's been fashionable to wear kimono with the hem higher up, and with wacky patterned socks or interesting shoes (like bright coloured pumps). Google kimono bijin for examples. So if you find a piece that measures just a tad short on you not all hope is lost. Most yukata listings will list the length of the yukata they're selling.

Men's yukata don't have the fold, so there's less leeway there, and you should make sure you're buying the correct length. If you're a woman, it's trendy to wear men's yukata (or just men's obi). It's called otoko-poi. Idk if this trend runs the other way, though. If you're a woman and you're interested in more masculine colours and patterns but you want to buy a women's yukata, they do exist! I've seen some recently on ebay in colours like grey and blue, with bamboo leaves. Way more subdued than a pink yukata with blue blossoms or the like (but they're all so nice looking, anyway).

can anyone give brand recommendations for dresses that are affordable, well made and not ita? I was thinking something along the lines of And Romeo, any others?

Buy secondhand stuff off general secondhand sites (lm, cc, ww, auctions etc). If you're really desperate to crank out a coord, get a main brand piece you really like and particular filler pieces from certain taobao shops (Surface Spell, Infanta) or Bodyline. I really don't like the look of And Romeo main pieces, and desu even Bodylinr filler pieces look better.
But seriously. Shell out for a second hand brand main piece.

i haven't bought any main pieces yet but am trying to build up a small base-wardrobe of good quality basics (blouses, accessories, etc), but don't know where to start with pettis? what's a good petti to buy that will work with a lot of pieces? (i've heard people say the wunderwelt ones are good but do these work with a lot of pieces?) or should i just go for a main piece and work backwards by buying a petti that will work with it?
ugh wtf is this captcha

aurora & ariel pettis are cheap and good. they say they're a line but they're more like a hybrid shape, so they work for everything. I'd get an 8m for low poof and a 16m for regular poof. if you haven't already learn to order them through 42agent.
