I have a feeling that these aren't really that bad, they didn't just bother ironing, the camera angle is shit and they chose the worst models possible, short and swimming in the dresses. I think the designer must have seen it looked a little plain with nothing at the top but didn't want a big bow in case it got in the way of the heart. Tbh I think the Dolly Heart lolita from Twitter was a dumbass. My friend has that dress, it’s the normal silky chiffon poly. I own two bags like the Present Ribbon one and wear them with chiffon dresses all the time. Honestly I have no clue how she managed to ruin it like that without noticing. Tulle overskirts are nothing new, though. I have a ballerina jsk from IW that's basically a tulle overskirt on a dress, wear it for work then wash it in a garment bag in the washing machine. I'd estimate I've worn it 30-50 times now and still haven't snagged it.

Usually, when AP announces new items (somewhere Wednesday/Thursday) AP Paris adds them to their shop on Thursday/Friday. Technically you have a chance to reserve certain items a day before the japanese release, but they take some time until they get the items from Japan.

There aren't usually many anti-black comments on cgl to begin with except /pol/tards coming in trying to bait people and a ton of people taking over feels threads with back and forth on politics when the BLM stuff was trending, during which the threads got nuked for being off topic, not because of anything to do with the comments being about black people.

China and Chinese lolitas as well as scalpers (and some scammers) have had an impact on both non Chinese and Chinese lolitas in the fashion, so of course you'll hear a lot about China in general. Chinese lolitas likely keep certain brands afloat and their willingness to spend a lot and tastes have seemingly influenced brands' aesthetic choices like with AP. Chinese lolitas are also now buying and selling more in Japanese and Western secondhand. There was also the thing that happened at the Shangai AP store a year or two ago; a good chunk of the people in in line were straight up old men buying dresses to scalp and they and some of the rest of the crowd literally destroyed things with their behavior. Not to mention it's obvious many of the scalpers on LM but not all listing NWT kumyas and AP are Chinese scalpers in China and Australia, among other places. Yeah, the old well known western scalpers or scammers still exist but it's fair to point out that they're Chinese too just like if a huge chunk were American, Brazillian, German, or whatever.

I don't think anyone pointing out some scammers being Chinese is racism, and don't pretend gulls haven't regularly said negative shit about black people before either. But a ton of black lolitas in comparison aren't doing some of the stuff we've seen Chinese lolitas or scammers do en masse and the ethnicity is less relevant because black lolitas don't have the sane influence.

AP Japan still relies on walk-ins and impulse buys. Previous years they tend to ramp up their Halloween releases in October (when the locals would actually be feeling really hyped up to go shopping for a dress or accessory they can take home at the moment), and they tended to have Halloween-ish releases all the way until the last weekend of October.

So there's hope yet for other stuff.

Out of curiosity I looked up the release dates of their Halloween releases in 2019 and 2018. They usually start by the end of August (Ghost Night bride was like 24th August) until early October (5th October for Dream Cat Go Round).

Actually, a lot of the earlier years you can really feel that the lucky packs are very cheaply made. The buttons tended to be much more obviously plastickier. The lace tended to be plainer, and one year the tulle netting itself was very sparse. The bags were often so lacking they looked like budget AP next to a regular release generic AP bag. The socks tended to be UTKs rather than OTKs even when every regular release they did was OTKs. Coats, too, tended to be thinner and have courser, stiffer fur.

I think they've simply changed tactics. Whereas in the past everybody bought lucky pack sets and then the experienced lolitas were simply stuck with selling off the obviously cheap things so that they could keep the print, recently what they've been doing is making more of the special set prints. So if you were an experienced lolita, it's become much simpler to just buy the special print sets and then use your own high-quality blouses, bags, socks, shoes etc with it, rather than have to deal with what to do with the cheap stuff just because you like the print.

The newer lucky packs seems to be targeted at newbies, or anyone who wants to get a full set from brand. It's still pretty much a full coord and pretty decent, without the hassle of having to deal with whether or not you want to buy it solely for the print and then need to sell off everything else.

I get that back when this necklace was first released it was really limited because that was the nature of lolita, but I do not understand why they don't currently order more stock or do MTOs more often when there is clearly a demand for their products. FFS they could easily announce a new release and take pre-orders at the same time. Then everyone would be happy and the only people who miss out are those who weren't following new releases or in the fashion yet, which is fair.

I can't tell if it has to do with who they manufacture with (who would be limiting the number of production stock allowed for each order) or if they are being purposely obtuse about what sells well but it is so frustrating that they don't pay as close attention to their sale stats as they should. Sometimes they make smart business moves and do MTOs for popular things but I feel like whoever is making the bulk of their business decisions only knocks their 2 braincells together correctly about 60% of the time.

What I'm saying is that people in general are saying $1-2k prices are/were "normal" for any old dress. And they never were, at any point. Celestial regularly hit $1k pretty easily, though. And they hit it again after the MTO, which was weird, you'd think the MTO would have brought prices down but nope, straight after the MTO came out the prices went right back up to $1k for the jsk and about $800 for the skirt for some reason.

I mean I think this is a ridiculous price for the chocolate dress, but I was here in 2013 when AP bloodbaths were affairs of tears and multiple cgl threads and some mysterious super hyped up dresses do hit $1k. Shortly before AP figured out to do re-releases as often as they do now.

I've got it in pink size M and bitter size L. The bitter L I bought when I was chunkier and now it just fits awkwardly loose on me, the pink fits great but the color against my skin is not my favorite so I never really wear it.
