I've seen these on instagram a few times and think they can look either really cool and cute or completely cringe. I can imagine they would be nice for if you're insecure/don't want to put your face out there but still want to participate in online communities or just want to adopt a cute persona and never have to do your makeup for coord pictures.

There are definitely sissy kigurumi mask fetishists (when searching for images to start the thread I came across some that looked innocent but then turned out to be ads for these masks on sex shops or something similar)

But I have seen people just wearing them as a sort of doll like thing with jfashion here and there for a while and thought it is an interesting concept, especially since I'm insecure about my appearance and like the idea of being able to just have a cute look without having to get surgery or something to fix my face.

As a darker skinned (non Asian) person who thinks these are cool, I've always wondered if I could ever find a base for one in my skin tone and maybe do the "faceup" myself like on custom dolls, just so the artist wouldn't feel pressured to have to learn how to shade or choose makeup for darker skin if they usually do pale ones.

I do a lot of 2D art and the doll customizers whose work I tend to like seem to have little trouble transitioning a 2D design to a doll face so I figureda bit of practice on smaller pieces would get me up to speed quicklys since I understand coloring and shading skin with traditional media a lot already.

I kind of dig the aesthetics of wearing a full head covering mask but (sorry if this is derailing) not the kigurumi faces themselves. I like the whole animal faces aesthetics better for example.
