Time to check-in, check out and reflect. Conversation starters;
>Which brands are still shipping to where?
>Are you waiting on another in the mail? Is it delayed or did it suddenly stop being delayed?
>Who's taking advantage of the downtime and catching up on crafting accessories / making adjustments to pieces / working on your wig styling skills?
>How do we tea party going forward from here? Are long-distance tea parties too cringe?

As far as I know AP USA still ships out, Bayby maybe not so (Someone confirm?) ??? I'm catching up by repairing some of the battle damage on dresses. Thinking of taking up wig styling for the first time. Zoom tea parties seem cringe (to me) but I think this is def. the time to generate instagram content.

I'm in the UK which seems to be relatively unaffected by Japan shipping restrictions thus far, so I've made orders to Closet Child and Amavel (more general j-fashion I know) via an SS. Nothing's arrived to my SS so far, but I'm interested to see how long everything will take.

>How do we tea party going forward from here? Are long-distance tea parties too cringe?

I think they're a cute idea but god I bet they've made for some awkward, stilting fucking conversation. I don't really have a comm right now anyway but I don't think I'd be joining in.

Keep all the e-mails, records, 'n such. I hope things work out for you but right now it seems like restrictions are getting placed and lifted and placed again.

>>10384638
That's very interesting to hear. It seems like every country is handling things differently and, for some reason, that makes me feel a bit better. Like, even if it's not as easy for me to order from Japan now from the US, it makes me feel like everything can't be that bad if another country like the UK isn't under the same degree of lockdown.

Also yeah, I'm almost lonely enough right now to do a long distance tea party but it probably wouldn't work out.

Virtual meets can be a lot of fun, my only complaint is that my phone dies or overheats too quickly. As for orders, my AP Paris order arrived very timely and I'm not experiencing any delays in general. I live in Germany though and postage hasn't been that badly affected, however I hesitate to import anything from Japan atm especially if marking down the package isn't possible. I simply can't be arsed to deal with customs at this time.

I literally have a spreadsheet now with all my tracking numbers. I'm waiting on 8 packages that shipped before the US suspension. None have moved since the announcement. All of them are fully insured, but what makes me nervous is when do we even know if a package is lost if the delivery time is anywhere from now to 4 months? How would I even get CC, WW, or my shopping service to make a claim?

For anyone that's curious and wants to cry with
me, here are my packages that have not arrived (shipping type, date shipped, last status):

ePacket - 4/03, Dispatch from outward office of exchange (Japan)
EMS - 4/7, Arrival at outward office of exchange
ePacket - 4/8, Posting/Collection
ePacket - 4/10, Posting/Collection
EMS - 4/13, Posting/Collection/En route
ePacket - 4/14, Posting/Collection
ePacket - 4/21, Arrival at outward office of exchange
ePacket - 4/21, Posting/Collection

Nothing really correlates. Some packages haven't moved at all. Some get to Japan's customs a day after shipping. I wish I had internal knowledge of what's going on.

I've found UPS to be very reliable to the point where we didn't have insurance on any of the packages for a few months (not doing declared value) and we saved money because very few packages got lost and we didn't have to replace/refund people.

Ground is slow, yes. For business purposes you kind of make your customers suffer through ground and mailing innovations because ups will give you good rates for your important packages (next day and the international shipments). If you're an international company you're going to need those for sending to overseas factories and contractors. You need it there tomorrow halfway across the world? I’m glad they (you?) stock Meta, but I already have most of what you are selling unfortunately. If stock gets updated post apocalypse I will remember to support them. >Would love to see some more LL/Ank type brands or even Axes Femme for some budget options.

I agree with this, and I also think it's a more sustainable business model to concentrate on slightly cheaper brands like this. High markups are unavoidable with this sort of business, so I think you'll scare people off less if you have some more affordable stock. Plus Axes Femme, etc, are great "gateway brands" that could help hook in customers who are new to j-fashion or younger customers whose parents are nervous about them shelling out over $200 for a dress. And after all, the target demographic here is not experienced lolitas - they can already get this stuff cheaper online.

>> No.10385972

>>10385967
That and honestly, I am more likely to go out to a physical store to try stock from casual brands. I already *know* how meta will fit me. Axes? Ank? They do so many styles and fits that it’s a crapshoot

(This is theoretical though as I don’t live in Texas and would just buy online from them anyhow. But locally, I would absolutely drive a couple of hours to get cutsews that aren’t too short on my arms).

I would also love to see KS at cons if they are interested. Most of the lolita collective, hard decora and atelier pierrot I have purchased were at cons when I had some downtime

that's already their business model. they went to sell at events to drum up interest, then did a kickstarter for a brick & mortar store but haven't actually opened it, presumably due to quarantine, but i don't really believe that. i don't go to events, so idk which ones, though. they have photos on facebook. i also wish they had cheaper stuff so I could support them, but I'm not dropping $250 on a poly dress. with Lolitabutiken and Cherry Cordial Official both closing, idk if selling used items would be a viable strategy.

I am still waiting the the mmm x baroque tablier apron thing. It was supposed to ship at the end of april, but got delayed and now corona chan has made it so it is delayed again.

I don't see how long distance tea parties are cringe, granted it done with people that you know. For me it felt like AP would stray away from their iconic styles, then return to them, stray away again, and so on. But after around 2015/2016, it seemed like it all permanently changed.

Cotton, border prints, and "standing" headbows all seem like things of the past now. The clothes used to have an emphasis on separating from the norm, and now AP just caters to the norm. That's probably the biggest thing.

I don't mind that fashion evolves. I expect it to. But I'm having a small identity crisis every time I realize that AP feels less and less like a brand I identify with. And before people jump on me and tell me to just pick another brand -- it's not really that simple.

I guess I'll keep scraping through secondhand sales.

I’d like to know what era you liked, because if it was ~2010-2015 then you have to understand the same amount of time has passed since then as that entire era was. Sound so depressing, but we are getting old. To say that AP “went back” to pre 2005 style in 2010 is just as incorrect as saying they went back to pre 2015 style now

another anon, I'm on the taller end, so I like to wear a skirt under an untucked blouse so that I can hike it down lower to cover my scandalous thighs. I admit it's not flattering to my midsection, but it is easy for a relative newbie who doesnt own underskirts yet. I am also an hourglass, and it's easier and cheaper to find a 72cm waist skirt than a 100cm bust jsk.

I don’t begrudge that people like old styles, but I do get a little salty when they complain companies don’t cater to them. While the era that they (likely) are talking about is AP’s most iconic era, it’s also only 5-10 years in a 30 year old brand. To their point about “standing out,” releasing the same style for the rest of time doesn’t make them stand out, it makes them stale. Brands that do that tend to struggle in the long run, even if they have a small loyal base. Not to mention, AP still puts out rereleases catering to that crowd anyway.

TLDR it’s okay to like what you like but you can’t expect fashion companies to be stuck in the past just because you are

Personally it's not that they aren't releasing the same style they used to. It's that they lost the quality and amount of detail that I fell in love with.
Look at this new release for example. There's no waist ties for crying out loud, no detachable bows, no added details. They have a crochet strawberry on the kimono set bow, why couldn't they have added that? There's nothing on the straps besides lace, a single bow at the top bodice. Generic star buttons for a strawberry crown release. Where's the cutlery charms, where's the crown buttons?
It all just seems like they are trying to save money more than following the trend of making it normie.

i agree with you here. also i don't think there is anything wrong with liking clothing or things from a certain time period, or even complaining about it. it's just your preference and opinion. something a lot of people don't get is that you don't need to follow fads. fashions evolve and change but that doesn't mean older things are obsolete, they're just not popular fads anymore. an anon mentioned gyaru and larme earlier and "evolving" but the shift doesn't mean everyone is required to just change what they like to keep being in a fashion. this isn't about being "in" with high fashion or something, it's about dressing how you enjoy and sharing it with others. besides are people just supposed to sell all their clothes when some new fad starts up?

No one was saying that, and I think some of y’all are putting words in op’s mouth. All she was saying was that AP’s status as the top dog right now is due to their iconic OTT sweet stuff, and they used to give fans of that a little more service. No one is expecting them never to make anything new, but as late as 2016 they were still giving us the occasional piece like Magic Princess. The closest they’ve come to that in years was Ice Cream Parlor but they messed it up by mixing a super sweet print motif with cuts and stripes best meant for a modern look and it’s an abomination. They’ve been doing re-releases at least, but they’re not releasing all of the colors and accompanying products like jewelry, socks, cutsews, etc, that made those older releases slap so hard and gave them so much versatility and longevity. Feels like a slap in the face to the lolitas who made that brand globally popular in the first place

Their data base is incomplete and they don't have a lot of new releases form brands that aren't popular in the west.
