I think the nails in OP are a set, but many people (myself included) do their real nails like this. The pieces are made with acrylic powder which is created directly on the nail so it forms to the shape, but you can use thick potted gel as well. There are also molds that you can use with special nail materials or soft resin to get a similar look. If you live near a big city you likely have a salon that does atleast something similar to this. I also make sets like in OP with the deco and all that.

Do people get their nails done that often? Isn't it quite a bit more expensive in japan than the US (Can't speak for EU because I have no clue). I'm not exactly a poorfag but that seems like so much money dumping over $100 USD per set every 2 weeks or more.

for extensions, i swapped from acrylics to hard gels 5 years ago, and have been recommending them to my clients for a while now too. it took a while (and many products) to get the same results from gels as the acrylics, especially when doing self-nails and especially for doing things like clear glitter sets. i recently bought this product that is a soak off for extensions, it self-levels really well so it's super easy to do yourself! for color, i only recommend japanese products now. the japanese pot gels are nice and thick and go on smoothly on either acrylic or gel extensions, and can some what be used for deco, but for deco i usually still use either traditional acrylic or even colored polygel! sometimes i will use the pot gel in molds though if i am being lazy, because it is flexible and you can make it look like a good acrylic deco job with less work! as far as brands for acrylic i kind of just get whatever, but i am more picky about monomer and use the Elfa Nomma Plus Acrylic Liquid Monomer, since that's the one my old salon used.

Mood, other nail tech anon here, I've been using poly-gel on all my clients with amazing success (until lockdown lol). Polygel is amazing for sticking charms and bling to existing nails. Like, Polygel, uncured + uncured gel topcoat, stick whatever stuff you want there, cure and bam, rhinestones for days. My last client had full deco/bling nails and she'd lost 1 rhinestone in 4 weeks, and she works at a supermarket. It's the best technique I've ever learned.

polygel is super awesome. quick, easy and lighter than acrylic, with all the good aspects of both. but my salon didn't use it for some reason haha! i haven't recently because of the virus, but i always deco/bling out of my own nails and i sometimes struggle to get them off. i've gotten tons of clients just because they compliment me over it. if i had to add another tip to this add to the thread. never use nail glue for deco, and i wouldn't go to a salon that does either. also, rhinestone gel that you can buy on amazon and whatnot actually works pretty well! you can adhere deco/bling with the gel onto any type of enhancement or polish as long as it's buffed properly!

deco molds are super easy to use, just use either the polygel or regular colored gel and fill the mold and pop it into your UV lamp and cure it for about 1 minute. then wipe the bottom sticky layer. it will come out of the mold easy and the rest won't be sticky since it wasn't exposed to the air. i feel you on dual forms, regular forms are easier to use in general. dual forms seemed nice to me because they come out shaped pretty nice and without the inhibition layer on the top, but they're annoying to gauge the apex and the inhibition layer being under the nail is annoying as fuck. also i just get molds from aliexpress because it's cheap silicone either way. sorry if i am over-explaining everything btw.

i feel like the pinky looks longer than the rest of the nails. you might want to shorten it a bit it's a common myth that all the nails should be the same literal length. try making the ratio of free edge to nail plate the same on all the nails to make them look more uniform.

Question!

So I have some nails I want to wear soon and the press on sticky’s are not stable enough. I was wondering if I used clear nail polish on my nails before gluing them if they would hold glued on nails but not damage my nail? My nails are really thin and brittle even with all the vitamins and shit I use to maintain them. I want pretty nails but I’m tired of the stickers popping off after a day of typing.

no one's thumb nail plate is the longest. most people's 1st, 2nd and middle finger are the same, and pinky and thumb are about the same so making them a bit longer actually makes them look the same length. every salon is going to do that, you just don't notice it. when doing self-nails you can cater to your own nails better, so you use a ratio.

I was down to argue about length and shape, but now that it's gotten into pseudoscience personal attacks I'm going to leave this be. The fact that the people I'm talking to can't even tell what finger they're looking at is sufficient for me. Even that (ring) finger is not close to the thumb in length - a nail tech can see there was a clear spot due to natural oils and the real nail plate attaches further down. Here's a simpler photo to prove the original point that the thumb can have the longest nail plate.

I'm going to peace out before the expert starts teaching gulls that temporary clear spots on nails are a sign of cancer and that a long thumb plate is an exclusively subhuman trait.
