Anon here.
My main issue seems to be building my Instagram (toptyr_cosplay) although I have slow on updates as of yet and know I need content worth following I've done regular updates without much results, this year has been really rough so my cosplay plans went on the back burner so how I ensure 2020 sees a good community build? Not really active on Twitter

>> No.10285466

Nah, plus-sized anons are welcome

I'd say you should try to focus on improving both the quality of your costumes and of your photos. On the costume front, invest in better quality wigs and take good care of them, the shine looks cheap and they seem pretty messy. You should also try to iron or steam costumes both as you're making them and before wearing them. And I notice a lack of hems in places, that's something you should take care of. As for photo quality, avoid overly filtered phone pics. I know not everyone can afford a good camera, but there are many photographers at cons who will take good pictures for free, reach out to such people before the con and plan a shoot! Some of my favorite pictures of myself were taken for free by photographers. Barring that, taking pictures in natural light always looks better than artificial light unless you have a studio set-up. If you ask a friend to take a picture of you, try to have them get on one knee and take the picture from your chest level rather than head level, the perspective will be more flattering. And if you take a mirror selfie, for the love of god, clean your mirror.

Another tip is to keep your content cosplay focused and not to post workout stuff, video game stuff, or food stuff.

Would any cosplayers be interested in joining a Instagram group chat where we all comment on each other's posts to help with reach/engagement?

What do you anons think about Instagram's decision to hide how many likes people get on their posts? Personally I'm fine with it because I mostly use insta to connect with other people, but I've heard the argument that it makes it hard for companies to determine which influencers are legit and which ones aren't.

I'd be down but depends on who else is in the group. I want my account to be craftsmanship focused, so I'd rather not be in a pod with people who buy their cosplays.

I'd like to know how to make my instagram more "branded', for want of a better word (i.e. how kiraouji keeps their insta).

I know someone who just posts coordinates, and I'd like to do that, but I love sharing all sorts of content, even though it is supposed to be my Lolita fashion one. I can't seem to find a schtick to stick with. I'm @miso.salty

>> No.10285951

Here’s what you need to do if you want to have an account that’s more “branded”
>Take photos in good lighting. Get a ring light or soft boxes to help you. You can get a small ring light for $30-40 on Amazon.
> Have a consistent editing style. A lot of your photos have different filters. Find a filter or editing style you like and stick to that one.
>put nonlolita content in your stories and have a “real life” highlight on your page or start a separate account for your irl stuff. This will help keep your feed consistently lolita but will still allow you to share your personal posts.
That’s all I can think of off the top of my head. I’d be happy to give you more advice once you clean up your account though!

>> No.10285952

Thank you! I am horrible at organising and it scares the crap out of me. I'm trying to figure out if I should wipe and start again or just keep the old and try and proceed with the new style.

I honestly have no idea where to start but thank you, this may take some time for me to work out. I do appreciate your help though!

>> No.10287187

The other anon gave you really good advice but I wanted to add that I've seen some feeds that post different sorts of things (life stuff, food, ootds, etc) and they keep it cohesive by sticking to the same color palette and/or filter for every picture.

I'm wondering what Lolitas on Instagram like to see in general.
My top 5 liked photos are almost completly different. :D
So... Do people still like flatlays? Details photos? Or just the regular selfie and coord post?

>> No.10287898

Personally I like a mixture of both but I prefer for accounts I follow to be heavier on the latter. Details and flatlays are nice but usually when I'm on instagram it's because I want to see clothes being worn by people.

>> No.10287943

Face selfies bore me, I want to see outfits worn. Flatlays often look better flat than in person

>> No.10291165

I'm following these people, they're like in the top 0.1% best looking just recently started using instragram so are there any other recommended people to follow?

>> No.10291194

she never did that though
she did use to visit this board though, til jealous harpies chased her off just like they did to all the other cute girls who used to frequent this board. now all we have is fatties and whales

>> No.10291195

>fatties and whales
>implying they aren't the same thing

>> No.10291198

whales are larger than fatties and their own particular class
