My friends went to Anime Revolution today without me, which really hurt my feelings. They told me about it a month and a half ago and we planned going as a group. But for the past week I have been in a very dark place emotionally with the grief flaring up again about my girlfriend passing away unexpectedly during surgery at the beginning of the new year of 2018. They didn't message me all week, no one reminded me or bothered talking to me. I was looking forward to going to the convention as a group again for the entire past year, the only reason I found out about it was because they were posting bragging about it in another public discord server, I wouldn't have even found out otherwise. It's soo emotionally painful

I know first hand how badly it feels to be abandoned by people who are supposed to care, and because of that, I always do my best to recognize distance due to depression/sadness/etc in the people I care about, and do my best to let them know that I am around and that I do care. Granted, I know that I can't save anyone from their sadness or anything, but often just knowing you're not alone helps so much. I know that if someone would have been around for me in my darkest hour, that I would have been able to get through it much easier. Anyway, sorry for the tmi. I really do hope that you know that you aren't alone, and that someone out there does care, even if your friends didn't reach out to you.

This was my second year at AR, and while I really enjoyed it (aside from the obvious problems... yikes!) I'm so freaking tired of the garbage that they allow in the vendor room. AR is the only Canadian con that I've been to, but I'm curious to know if it's just Canada in general that seems to be totally chill and fine with vendors selling bootleg merch?

Every American con that I've attended is super strict with bootleg stuff and pretty much has a zero tolerance policy, but both times I've gone to AR I've been extremely disappointed by the vendor room. Booth after booth of bootleg merch: a million off-model keychains, towering shelves of fake Pokemon plush, knock-off ita bags, etc. Does this not bother anyone else? How do those companies stay in business? Do people actually look at these items and think "Seems legit!"

I feel so sad when I come to the con hoping to find an official item that I know an American con would probably have (even something like a larger selection of figures/statues/nendoroids/wall scrolls/plush) only to see that my choices are extremely limited. It's disheartening!

Honest question: what do you think is the reason behind this? Do so many vendors choose to buy and sell bootlegs because the imports and customs fees might be cheaper than legitimate products? Do they not know where to buy legitimate products? Are other Canadian cons better about banning those knock offs? Why does AniRevo allow those vendors to sell at their convention?

You have to doubly report the bootleg vendor through their official forms and crosspost to every social media site that you're on, mainly their Facebook group (if it isn't heavily moderated) and Twitter. Otherwise, they will probably not take action on it if there's no official documentation or report AND slow to do anything if there are no consequences (social media shaming about bootlegs at their show)

His mother REALLY REALLY needs more focus. She pressured someone's boss to hire him since the boss is friends with the mom. She might have paid them to hire him to.

This was a small indie games company that cared about women in games and had a majority female demographic. As you can see, his mom does not give a goose about safety of others. Her son wanted to be a game designer so thats where she was fighting for him. He didn't do anything bad at work (other than write bad code) from what I heard but one of the coworkers mentioned he got kicked out of a indie games event once outside of work.

I really dont know if the boss knew that he commited crimes or not, Bram was not really qualified for the work needed to be done yet he was there so maybe thats why the boss didnt want to hire him in the first place but the mom played the friend card.
