It’s good to post about things like this because for as annoying as it is, it’s a form of constructive criticism that tells the staff of paradiso what they need to change if they want to continue it successfully. No we don’t want crappy tea we can get at Denny’s and no we don’t want poo pudding and an event themed “decadence” with zero food. That’s a flop they can learn from.

I'd personally hold it in a smaller venue that doesn't dwarf the vendors and events on the first day.

Have more of a variety of events especially on the first day. Open it up to panels, meetings, etc to break up the monotony of 'single hall syndrome.' Panels generally will be taken up and people are willing to volunteer for it so you'll be able to get more content easily.

And for the second day for the love of god we don't need an extravagant $150 tea but either better caterers or just have it in a designated restaurant/cafe. Surely the venues in KC aren't too hard to rent out?

I once went to tea for $50 with a lolita guest, and we were in a venue that gave us loose leaf tea and a really nice traditional tea, and this was in a city with a relatively high cost of living.

So far, the things I'm generally not the happiest with was there was relatively little to do on day 1, and obviously day 2's food and catering. I do like that I get to meet other lolitas I normally don't, and I actually liked the guests they brought this year, so I do hope they improve the experience for next year.

The thing with Paradiso is that it happened during 3 big cons: Momocon in the east coast, Fanime on the West coast, and Anime North in Canada. Basically it grabs only the lolitas from the Midwest mostly and the lolitas on the coasts generally dress better overall

In this kind of volunteer modeling, you are literally an unskilled walking clothes hanger not some kind of guest to expect to be fed. Bring your own snacks or meals, that's how it goes. It's not even great to eat before a show, just have a decent breakfast with protein and then go eat after you are done.

You actually should eat before a show because you'll need the energy, if you gave accurate measurements to the designer then your clothes will fit. Don't project your food issues on to others. But with events on both of the coasts the same weekend, many of the better dressed American lolitas may have been at those? For a gala party weekend with the theme of Decadence, I really saw some plain coords and plain hair.

More brands are becoming size-inclusive, so you’ll see more fatty-chans and male lolitas. This used to bug me but now I just judge people by their coord. What else can you do? Anyone who passes the dress code can buy a VIP ticket and sit in the front row.

I found myself to be much more forgiving of coords and so-called 'nitpicks' in person. As long as the person is friendly and nice I don't really care. It was part of why I liked Paradiso despite everything - you're with a very large group of people who care about the hobby and speak the same lingo as you, and that's what makes it fun.

Because no one forced them to volunteer, they were told in their acceptance letter to bring their own food and drink and anon above also said they were only kept backstage noon until the show was over. That is 3 hours. I saw plenty of them coming and going freely before noon.

I have seen multiple girls in fashion shows that lie about their measurements and have to get switched out of their original coord. If a girl shows up and lied about her size (or photoshopped herself unrecognizable), but the dress still fits, they’ll deal with it, begrudgingly, and they won’t work with them again. I was called vendetta and bait for saying it before but a girl in my comm did this and she was picked for that brand's final look. It took a lot of effort to get the dress on her and once she went to walk I overheard the designers talking about how they hoped the dress wouldn't be damaged. I liked the fashion show. . The small collections felt mostly well done and most things were wearable but not boring. I think almost all of the volunteer models needed more practice on their own before the show though. Just walking, turning, etc. Not very skilled.

Best dressed depends a lot on preferences but I saw lots of variety and creativity from toned down to OTT.

Agree about a traditional tea menu on Sunday with better tea and better food. I'm not vegan or vegetarian and I don't have food allergies so I just want regular tea food and I don't really care about things like hummus on a cucumber or chia pudding.

The raffle seemed a lot smaller this year. I think it should be mandatory for each vendor to supply a raffle prize.

I don’t speak for all veggies but I will still go to events like this and not complain about lack of food options for me .
Also I’ve never been a fan of the healthy-esque vegetarian menus. Idk how to explain it. Like if I get a veggie burger I don’t want 1000 vegetable toppings, I just want the veg patty with cheese gdi.

Plus for tea menus it’s pretty easy to eat veggie. Most sweets are fine and cucumber sandwiches are popular
